Samsung generated over $244 billion in revenue in 2021, compared to over $206 billion in 2020.

Samsung operates operate four business divisions:

  • Consumer Electronics (“CE”): The CE division includes digital TVs, monitors, air conditioners, and refrigerators.
  • Information technology & Mobile communications (“IM”): This division
    includes mobile phones, communication systems, and computers.
  • Device Solutions (“DS”): DS division includes semiconductor products such as
    memory, foundry, and system LSI (“Semiconductor”), and display products such as LCD and OLED panels (“DP”)
  • And Harman: it includes connected car systems, audio and visual products, enterprise automation solutions and connected services.

The Company is domiciled in the Republic of Korea and is located in Suwon, the Republic of Korea.

Samsung is one of the few companies in the world which managed to compete against a tech giant like Apple.

For instance, in 2021, Samsung generated nearly $245 billion in revenue, whereas Apple generated nearly $366 billion.

Apple has a business model that is divided into products and services. Apple generated over $394 billion in revenues in 2022, of which $205.5 came from iPhone sales, $40 billion came from Mac sales, over $41 billion came from accessories and wearables (AirPods, Apple TV, Apple Watch, Beats products, HomePod, iPod touch, and accessories), $29.3 billion came from iPad sales, and $78.13 billion came from services.

Facebook, the main product of Meta is an attention merchant. As such, its algorithms condense the attention of over 2.91 billion monthly active users as of June 2021. Meta generated $117.9 billion in revenues, in 2021, of which $114.9 billion from advertising (97.4% of the total revenues) and over $2.2 billion from Reality Labs (the augmented and virtual reality products arm).
