Shares of Elice Inc., a Seoul-based neocloud company, fell as much as 32% to 61,400 won in early trading on their Kosdaq debut on Tuesday, Bloomberg reported on 20 October 2026. The company had raised 201 billion won ($151 million) in the bourse’s biggest initial public offering this year.
Bloomberg set the debut against a run of setbacks for the sector: CoreWeave Inc.’s shares have more than halved since their May peak, Firmus Grid canceled its Sydney listing this month, and AirTrunk is delaying a planned IPO of a real estate investment trust, people familiar with the matter have said.
Business Pill · CAPEX AND DEPRECIATION
A short explainer on capex and depreciation, and why the useful life of AI chips drives the profits of companies that rent out compute. It teaches the general idea only and says nothing about any company in this story.
The key insight: As we read it, Bloomberg describes a listing that drew heavy subscription demand and still traded as much as 32% below its price in early trading: Elice priced at the top of its range, against a backdrop Bloomberg sets with CoreWeave, Firmus, AirTrunk and Nscale.
What Happened on Day One
Elice priced its shares at 90,500 won apiece in the IPO, the top of a marketed range, for a post-listing market capitalization exceeding 1 trillion won, Bloomberg reported. Chosunbiz put the range at 74,000 to 90,500 won and the total offering at about 201.1 billion won.
The stock opened at 75,700 won, about 16% below the IPO price by our arithmetic, according to a Naver Finance quote. At 9:14 a.m. local time it was trading at 64,200 won, down 29.06% from the offer price, Chosunbiz reported, adding that it fell as low as 61,000 won during the session.
At 10:00 a.m. local time the Naver Finance quote showed 65,800 won, down 27.29%, with a day high of 77,700 won, a low of 61,000 won and a market value of about 732.3 billion won. These are intraday prices, not a close.

Subscription Demand
The retail offering was oversubscribed more than 400 times, Bloomberg reported. Chosunbiz gave a retail competition rate of 408 to 1, and said 2,367 institutions at home and abroad took part in the book-building at a rate of 388.84 to 1.
To win over investors, Elice touted a 200% surge in first-half revenue to 34.4 billion won, according to its prospectus, Bloomberg reported. It swung to an operating profit of 10.3 billion won, and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rose more than 11-fold to 23.2 billion won.
The Sector Around the Listing
“Elice’s debut comes at a time when sentiment toward AI infrastructure companies has weakened, particularly in the US,” Albert Yong, managing partner and chief investment officer at Petra Capital Management, told Bloomberg.
Bloomberg cited concerns over borrowing costs, fierce competition and long-term returns from massive AI-related spending as weighing on valuations, and reported that Nscale is facing pushback over its target IPO valuation.
“Investor sentiment may have weakened due to CoreWeave, but its financial structure is quite different from CoreWeave so I don’t think investors need to view the company as particularly risky,” Kim Dojoon, chief executive officer at Zian Investment Management, told Bloomberg.
What Elice Builds
Founded in 2015 by three KAIST doctoral students, Elice began as a coding education platform before pivoting to AI cloud infrastructure, Bloomberg reported. It has developed a modular data-center platform with high-density power systems and liquid cooling for high-performance AI chip clusters.
Elice plans to use the IPO proceeds to build more AI data centers in South Korea and abroad, Chief Executive Officer Jae Won Kim told Bloomberg. “This IPO is about giving ourselves the financial firepower to execute,” Kim said.
The Structural Read
As we read it, the gap between the book and the screen is the story: Chosunbiz reports 408-to-1 retail demand and 388.84-to-1 institutional demand, while the first-day prices it and Naver Finance show sit well below 90,500 won.
As we read it, Bloomberg frames Elice as a test of appetite for AI infrastructure listings after setbacks elsewhere, and the people it quotes disagree on how far CoreWeave’s slide should weigh on a company with a different financial structure.
As we read it, the company’s own numbers point the other way from the price: Bloomberg reports a 200% rise in first-half revenue to 34.4 billion won and an operating profit of 10.3 billion won, per the prospectus.

“Sentiment toward AI infrastructure has been highly volatile and often disconnected from underlying fundamentals”
Three Implications
A PRICED LISTING 90,500 won a share, the top of the range, for 201 billion won raised, Kosdaq’s biggest IPO this year, per Bloomberg.
A DAY-ONE GAP An open of 75,700 won and a low of 61,000 won on the Naver Finance quote, about 16% and 33% below the IPO price by our arithmetic.
A SECTOR BACKDROP Bloomberg cites CoreWeave’s halved shares, Firmus’s canceled listing, AirTrunk’s reported REIT delay and pushback on Nscale’s IPO valuation.
The Business Engineer Lens
This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The AI Capex Map.
The framework totals about $1.04 trillion of 2026 compute capex, including $60 billion from neoclouds, and calls it “the first trillion-dollar year of compute capex in human history.”
As we read it, Elice is a small neocloud raising public money inside that cycle, and its first day shows how public investors are pricing the neocloud slice. The framework was published in May 2026 and does not discuss Elice.
What Is Not Established
The prices here are intraday readings, not a close. Bloomberg and Chosunbiz do not say why the shares fell, and this piece does not attribute the drop to any single cause.
AirTrunk’s REIT delay is reported by Bloomberg citing people familiar with the matter, not confirmed by the company. Bloomberg and Chosunbiz gave different intraday lows (61,400 and 61,000 won), in reports published six minutes apart (00:13 and 00:19 UTC).
The Bottom Line
Elice, a Korean AI cloud company, fell as much as 32% on its Kosdaq debut after a 201 billion-won IPO priced at the top of its range, Bloomberg reported on 20 October 2026. By our arithmetic, it opened about 16% below its 90,500-won IPO price.
