AI Daily: Modal’s $15.75B and CoreWeave’s 14.8% Bond Yield

Private AI companies priced up while a public AI borrower’s debt sold off, by our grouping of the day’s news. On 14 October 2026 Modal said it raised $750 million at a $15.75 billion post-money valuation, and Bloomberg reported that Anduril is in talks to sell insider shares at a roughly $90 billion valuation. The same day CNBC reported that the yield on CoreWeave’s 9.625% bond due in 2032 stood at 14.8% as its shares fell 16% in intraday trading, and the BLS said consumer prices rose 3.7% over the 12 months to September.

Business Pill · FINANCIAL CONDITIONS

A one-minute explainer of financial conditions: how the cost and availability of credit move across markets. It teaches the general idea only and says nothing about any company in this roundup.

The key insight: As we read it, the day’s money ran in two directions: private rounds priced AI companies higher, with Modal at a $15.75 billion post-money valuation and Anduril’s tender at roughly $90 billion as Bloomberg reported it, while CNBC put the yield on CoreWeave’s 9.625% bond due 2032 at 14.8% intraday.

Figures of the day, 14 October 2026: twelve figures from the day’s linked stories, including Modal’s $15.75 billion valuation, Anduril’s roughly $90 billion tender and the 14.8% intraday yield on CoreWeave’s 2032 bond
Twelve figures from the day’s linked stories, as each piece reports them. The figures use different units and sources and are not comparable with each other; CoreWeave’s yield is intraday.

The Structural Read

Several of the day’s valuations rest on different kinds of evidence, and the pieces say so: Modal’s $15.75 billion is in its own announcement, Labelbox’s $1.25 billion pre-money valuation is in its own blog post, and Anduril’s roughly $90 billion rests on Bloomberg’s unnamed sources.

The public-market figures are intraday: CNBC reported CoreWeave’s 16% fall and the 14.8% yield at 12:24 PM ET, and Reuters tied the AI rout to the inflation report, which our CoreWeave piece attributes to Reuters.

Prices for models and agents were set out by the companies themselves: OpenAI’s pricing page lists gpt-6-luna at $0.10 per million input tokens, xAI kept Grok Voice at $0.08 a minute, and Google’s technical report estimates $0.199 per expert-level query with Gemini 3.8 Flash.

CoreWeave chief executive Mike Intrator, in a memo to staff as reported by Bloomberg, as quoted in our piece

“irrationally”

Three Implications

HOLDERS OF COREWEAVE’S 2032 NOTES CNBC put the yield to maturity on the 9.625% bond due 2032 at 14.8% intraday, and Bloomberg reported that Intrator told staff the deal backlog is large enough to more than support CoreWeave’s debt obligations.

ANDURIL EMPLOYEES Bloomberg reported a tender priced at $94.80 a share and capped at about $1.3 billion, which would value the company at roughly $90 billion, according to people familiar with the situation.

DEVELOPERS ON GPT-4O AND GPT-4.1 OpenAI said those models will be removed from the API on 14 January 2027, with gpt-6-luna as the recommended replacement.

The Business Engineer Lens

This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The AI Capex Map.

The framework puts it this way: “the capex race is no longer a corporate spending cycle. It is a sovereign-scale financing problem dressed in tech-company clothing”.

As we read it, Wednesday’s coverage shows both ends of that financing: private rounds for Modal, Labelbox and Salience Labs, and a 14.8% intraday yield on CoreWeave’s 2032 bond.

What Is Not Established

This roundup adds no new reporting. Every figure above is taken from the linked FourWeekMBA piece, each of which was built from its own primary source. The five threads and the counts in our charts are our grouping, not a finding.

We do not claim that the private rounds and the public selloff are linked, or that the inflation print caused CoreWeave’s fall; Reuters tied the AI rout to the report, and we attribute that to Reuters. Several figures are the companies’ own, such as Modal’s run rate and Labelbox’s growth, Anduril’s valuation rests on Bloomberg’s unnamed sources, and some items give no price: Prime Intellect’s deal for Moondream and Anthropic’s agreement with Opaque.
