Anthropic Said to Start IPO Roadshow Next Week; No Price Yet

Anthropic will proceed with its IPO roadshow next week, The Information reported on Friday, 6 November, in a report headlined “Anthropic to Proceed With IPO Roadshow Next Week”. The article is behind a paywall; we read its headline and relays of it, not the full text.

Anthropic’s latest filing still has no price. Its amended S-1, filed on 2 November, says “the initial public offering price per share will be between $ and $ .” with both figures blank, and the SEC’s EDGAR list showed no later Anthropic filing when we checked at 22:24 UTC on Friday.

Business Pill · Financial Conditions Explained

A short explainer on financial conditions. It teaches the general idea only and does not discuss this story.

The key insight: As we read the record, the roadshow is reported, not filed: The Information said Anthropic will proceed with it next week, while Anthropic’s latest S-1/A, from 2 November, still leaves the price range blank.

What Was Reported

A relay of the report by Wall St Engine on X added a date: “The company is still targeting a public listing during the week of November 16, ahead of Thanksgiving.” We could not check that line against The Information’s text.

The Financial Times, in a post on X at 22:07 UTC, said Anthropic “is pressing on with its high-stakes IPO even as a brutal tech rout convulses markets” and “is prepared to accept a valuation well below the $2tn that its most bullish investors had hoped for”. Earlier on Friday, as we reported in Anthropic Said to Press On With $1.5T Pre-Thanksgiving IPO, the FT said the company was “expected to kick off its roadshow next week”, and Techmeme’s summary of that report put the valuation at $1.25 trillion to $1.75 trillion.

Reuters, citing four people familiar with the matter, had reported that the roadshow “was originally scheduled to start in the week of November 9, with pricing arrangements to take place the following week”, according to ChainCatcher’s republication. Anthropic declined to comment to Reuters.

Valuation figures reported for Anthropic: the $2 trillion figure in the FT’s post on X; the $1.25 trillion to $1.75 trillion range in Techmeme’s summary of the FT report; the FT’s $1.5 trillion headline target; and the $965 billion Series H post-money valuation from May. No IPO price range has been filed.

Axios, in a report published at 22:07 UTC, said Anthropic’s target valuation “sits about $1 trillion (with a t) lower than a month ago”. It wrote that discussions of the valuation “had fallen as low as $1 trillion, WSJ reported”, and that “Bloomberg cited investors putting it between $1.1 trillion–$1.3 trillion.”

What Was Posted on X

Wall St Engine posted at 22:21 UTC on 6 November that Anthropic reportedly plans to proceed with its IPO roadshow next week and is still targeting a listing during the week of November 16, ahead of Thanksgiving, citing The Information. This is the relay this piece credits for the week-of-November-16 line; we have not read The Information’s article itself.

Update, 7 Nov, 03:40 UTC: one existing backer says it will buy more at the IPO. New York-based investment firm XN plans to be a “large participant” in buying additional Anthropic shares in the expected listing, founder Gaurav Kapadia wrote in a letter to investors sent on Thursday, according to the Financial Times as reported by Hedgeweek. Hedgeweek says XN first invested in 2025, has taken part in three funding rounds, and that its holding was valued at about $5.3bn at the May round that valued Anthropic at $965bn. Kapadia described Anthropic as a potential “category-defining enduring” business. We have not read the FT article itself.

By our arithmetic, if XN’s stake were unchanged since May, it would be worth about $6.9bn at a $1.25T valuation and about $9.6bn at $1.75T, the ends of the range the FT has reported. Existing holders adding shares is one source of IPO demand; the 12 Anthropic ETFs on file, half of them inverse, are another.

The Numbers

Against the $2 trillion figure in the FT’s post, the top of the reported $1.25 trillion to $1.75 trillion range is 12.5% lower and the bottom 37.5% lower, by our arithmetic. The bottom of the range is 29.5% above the $965 billion post-money valuation of Anthropic’s Series H round in May, as we calculated in OpenAI, Anthropic Both Near $1.25T; Only One Files Revenue.

On timing, the week of 16 November starts 10 days after Friday’s report, and Thanksgiving, on Thursday 26 November, is 20 days after it, by our count. The roadshow week reported on Friday is the week of 9 November, the same week Reuters said the roadshow was originally scheduled to start.

Kalshi’s contract on Anthropic confirming an IPO before 1 December, “Before Dec 1, 2026”, last traded at 82 cents at 21:58 UTC, according to its public market data, as we reported in Anthropic November IPO Odds Jump to 76% After FT Report. On 4 November, by our arithmetic, traders priced 55% on a listing in the week of 16 November, as we reported in Traders Price 55% Odds of an Anthropic IPO in Week of Nov 16.

What the Filing Shows

The 2 November amendment leaves the date, the number of shares and the price range blank. Its cover page reads: “This is an initial public offering of shares of Class A common stock of Anthropic, PBC.” It says Anthropic has applied to list its Class A shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol “ANT.”

The original S-1 was filed on 26 October and the amendment on 2 November, four and eleven days before Friday’s report, by our count. For the filing’s margins, see Anthropic S-1: 85.5% Gross Margin, Up From 29.4% a Year Ago. The Structural Read

As we read the FT’s post, the company is prepared to accept a valuation well below $2 trillion; the reported $1.25 trillion to $1.75 trillion range is 12.5% to 37.5% below that figure, by our arithmetic.

As we read the timing, a roadshow in the week of 9 November matches the week Reuters said the roadshow was originally scheduled to start.

As we read the filing, the date, the share counts and the price range on the cover page are all still blank.

Three Implications

FOR ANTHROPIC The FT said it “is pressing on with its high-stakes IPO even as a brutal tech rout convulses markets”.

FOR IPO BUYERS Anthropic’s 2 November S-1/A gives no price range; we checked EDGAR at 22:24 UTC on Friday and found no later filing.

FOR THE AI TRADE Axios reported that Max Kettner, chief multi-asset strategist at HSBC, said the best way for the IPO to change the narrative might be a conservative valuation, even one below $1 trillion.

The Business Engineer Lens

This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The AI Supercycle.

The framework says: “AI exhibits genuine bubble characteristics — excessive hype, overvaluation, capex commitments that exceed the unit economics of any single application — at the same time as it exhibits genuine supercycle characteristics — real productivity gains, fundamental restructuring of profit pools, civilizational impact.”

As we read it, the gap between the $2 trillion figure in the FT’s post and the $1.25 trillion to $1.75 trillion range is where that tension is being priced for Anthropic. The framework predates this report and does not discuss the roadshow.

What Is Not Established

We have not read The Information’s article beyond its headline, or the FT article behind its post, so neither the roadshow’s start date nor the listing week is confirmed by Anthropic or by a filing. No price range has been filed. The $1.25 trillion to $1.75 trillion range is as summarised by Techmeme; Bloomberg separately reported investors discussing $1.2 trillion to $1.3 trillion, as we covered in Investors Discuss $1.2T-$1.3T Anthropic IPO Value After Rout. The Bottom Line
