Twilio reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $1.56 billion on 29 October, up 20% reported and 16% organic, and raised its full-year growth outlook. Chief executive Khozema Shipchandler said: “Consumer AI has accelerated AI development, and its adoption demands fast, reliable infrastructure built for AI speed”.
Its earnings presentation opens the quarter’s customer wins with five AI companies, including ElevenLabs, Gong and Ushur. By our arithmetic, $53.1 million of carrier A2P fees accounts for about 97% of the revenue Twilio excludes from organic growth, so the gap between 20% and 16% comes almost entirely from fees, not acquisitions.

Business Pill · AI Agents
An evergreen Business Engineer explainer on AI agents. It explains the general idea only and does not discuss Twilio.
The key insight: By our arithmetic, $53.1 million of carrier A2P fees is about 97% of the $54.9 million Twilio strips out to get from 20% reported growth to 16% organic growth; acquisitions account for $1.8 million.
What Twilio Reported
The release, filed with the SEC as Exhibit 99.1, gives revenue of $1,559.5 million against $1.30 billion a year earlier. Non-GAAP income from operations rose 39% to $325.7 million and GAAP income from operations rose 263% to $148.6 million. Free cash flow was $369.6 million, against $247.5 million in the third quarter of 2025.
The dollar-based net expansion rate was 114%, against 109% a year earlier. Twilio had 5,625 employees at 30 September and repurchased $127.2 million of shares in the quarter.

What Was Posted on X
Wall St Engine on X, 29 Oct: Twilio Q3 revenue $1.56B against an estimate of $1.51B, up 20%; it raised its FY26 revenue growth outlook to 20% from 18%-18.5% and organic growth to 15%.
Where the Organic Gap Comes From
Twilio’s reconciliation table starts from GAAP revenue of $1,559,536 thousand, subtracts $53,128 thousand of A2P revenue and $1,760 thousand of acquisition revenue, and arrives at organic revenue of $1,504,648 thousand. Twilio defines A2P revenue as incremental increases to application-to-person fees imposed by major U.S. carriers on its core messaging business.
By our arithmetic, the two adjustments total $54.9 million, and the A2P line is about 97% of that. Acquisition revenue is about 3%.
The AI Customers It Named
The presentation lists Meera AI, Ushur, ElevenLabs, Gong and Eltropy as representative wins. Ushur, which it calls “the AI-native platform for agentic customer experiences in healthcare, insurance, and the public sector”, signed a seven figure expansion and is expanding its voice AI capabilities with Conversation Relay.
The presentation says Eltropy’s voice agents “now resolve up to 70% of routine member calls on their own”. It also lists an unnamed health insurance provider that signed an eight figure deal to use Conversation Relay to build its Voice AI agent.
The Raised Outlook
Twilio raised its 2026 reported revenue growth outlook to 20%, from 18% to 18.5%, and organic growth to 15%, from 13% to 13.5%. It raised non-GAAP income from operations and free cash flow to $1.19 billion to $1.20 billion each, from $1.135 billion to $1.155 billion.
For the fourth quarter, it guides revenue of $1.595 billion to $1.605 billion, which it says implies 17% to 17.5% reported growth and 11% to 12% organic growth. Per a Wall St Engine post, analysts expected $1.58 billion for the quarter and $1.51 billion for the third quarter just reported.
The Structural Read
As we read the presentation, Twilio puts five AI companies at the front of its customer wins, ahead of the named and unnamed enterprise deals on the slides that follow.
As we read the release, the raised outlook covers both lines: reported growth to 20% from 18% to 18.5%, and organic growth to 15% from 13% to 13.5%.
By our arithmetic, the fourth-quarter organic range of 11% to 12% sits below the 16% just reported, while the reported range of 17% to 17.5% sits closer to the third quarter’s 20%.
Khozema Shipchandler, CEO of Twilio, in the release of 29 October 2026
“Twilio is well positioned to capitalize on this moment and meet this demand”
Three Implications
FOR AI VOICE AGENTS The presentation says Eltropy’s voice agents now resolve up to 70% of routine member calls on their own, and that an unnamed health insurer signed an eight figure deal to build a Voice AI agent on Conversation Relay.
FOR READING THE GROWTH RATE Twilio’s reconciliation shows the 4-point gap between reported and organic growth is mostly A2P fees that major U.S. carriers impose on its messaging business, by our arithmetic about 97% of it.
FOR CASH RETURNS The release gives free cash flow of $369.6 million for the quarter and $127.2 million of share repurchases, with about $700 million left on the $2.0 billion authorisation.
The Business Engineer Lens
This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The AI Embedding Business Model.
The framework argues: “In the embedding era, value comes from what the software connects to.”
As we read it, a communications API that AI agent makers build their voice and messaging on is one place that argument shows up in a filing. The framework does not discuss Twilio.

What Is Not Established
The release and presentation we read do not give revenue from AI customers or a count of them, and the presentation’s charts did not come through in our text extraction. We did not listen to the earnings call. The share of the organic adjustment and the A2P share are our arithmetic from the reconciliation table; analyst estimates come from the Wall St Engine post.
The Bottom Line
Twilio grew revenue 20% to $1.56 billion and raised its 2026 outlook, and its presentation leads its customer wins with five AI companies. By our arithmetic, carrier A2P fees explain about 97% of the gap between reported and organic growth.
Go deeper: Amazon, Microsoft and Google all reported their agent platforms in growth multiples in their third-quarter 2026 documents: Bedrock tokens up nearly 17x, Foundry revenue more than tripling and Google’s tokens a minute up more than four times.
