Anthropic has tapped eight firms, including Macquarie Group and Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s CommSec unit, for the Australian retail offer in its IPO, Bloomberg reported on 2 November, citing a post that day on Anthropic’s website. That page also names the brokers expected to sell shares to individual investors in Canada, Europe, Japan and the UK.
By our count, the page and the 2 November S-1/A together list 42 broker listings across seven markets. Japan is the only leg with a reported size: up to $3.5 billion, per Reuters.
Business Pill · Distribution Advantage
An evergreen Business Engineer explainer on distribution advantage: why reach to customers can matter as much as the product. It explains the general idea only and does not discuss Anthropic or its IPO.
The key insight: Anthropic’s own broker page now names who sells its IPO to individual investors outside the US: 36 listings across five lists, which with the S-1/A’s six US brands makes 42 across seven markets, by our count. Only Japan has a reported size.
What Bloomberg Reported
Bloomberg said Anthropic “has tapped eight firms including Macquarie Group Ltd. and Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s CommSec unit for its Australian retail offer” ahead of a Nasdaq debut that it said is set to be among the largest initial public offerings ever.
Morgans Financial, Bell Potter Capital, LGT Wealth Management, Stake, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Australia and Sharesies “are the brokers, financial intermediaries, and selling agents expected to participate in the proposed retail offering”, Bloomberg reported, citing the post. We read the first two paragraphs of the article; the rest is paywalled.

What Anthropic’s Own Page Says
The page, headed “Anthropic IPO: International Retail Brokers and Selling Agents”, carries a 2 November update date. It says the IPO is “expected to include retail offerings in Australia, Canada, certain member states of the European Economic Area”, Japan, Switzerland and the UK. The EEA countries named are Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden.
It lists eight Australian names, seven in Canada, 11 on a shared EEA and Swiss list, four in Japan and six in the UK. “Anthropic has not authorized any other firm or platform to offer, or to advertise access to, shares in the proposed retail offerings” in those jurisdictions, the page says, adding that “This page will be updated if the list changes”.
For the UK, the page states “RetailBook is acting as the Public Offer Platform (POP) operator and is coordinating the retail offer for the UK”. The RetailBook plan was first reported by Bloomberg; until now that link rested on its reporting, as our UK and US brokers piece noted.
For Australia, the page says the retail offer would be “of newly issued Shares by Anthropic”, made under a prospectus “to be lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission”. For Canada, it says a preliminary base PREP prospectus has been filed with regulators in each province and territory. For Japan, a registration statement has been filed with the Kanto Regional Finance Bureau but has not yet become effective.
What the S-1/A Says About Australia
The S-1/A filed on 2 November does not name CommSec, by our full-text search. Macquarie appears twice, both times as an underwriter of the overall offering: Macquarie Capital on the cover and Macquarie Capital (USA) Inc. in the underwriting list. None of the other six Australian names appears.
The filing says “The public offering in Australia will be made pursuant to a separate prospectus (“Australian Prospectus”) which complies with the requirements of the Corporations Act and will be lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission”. The 26 October S-1 had the same Australia language, by our search, so the broker names are the new piece of the Australian leg.
Our Route Map: 42 Listings, Seven Markets
Adding the page’s 36 listings to the six US brands in the S-1/A’s “Sales to Retail Investors” section gives 42 listings across seven markets, by our count. The US six are Charles Schwab, Fidelity, Robinhood, Trade-PMR, SoFi Securities and E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley.
eToro, Interactive Brokers and Revolut each appear on both the EEA and Swiss list and the UK list, so the distinct names number 39. We did not count RetailBook, which the page describes as the UK coordinator rather than a listed broker.
Sizes are thinner than names. Reuters reported that Anthropic “will sell up to 552.9 billion yen ($3.5 billion) worth of shares in Japan”, a filing showed. We found no reported size for the Australian, Canadian, European or UK legs, and the S-1/A’s cover still shows a blank offering price.
Connecting the Coverage
Australia is the third non-US retail leg with named specifics in our coverage. Japan’s size came first, in Anthropic Plans Up to $3.5B Japan Share Sale in Its IPO. The UK and the six US platforms followed in Anthropic Plans UK Retail Sale; IPO Filing Adds 6 US Brokers, which also carries the Robinhood finance chief’s comments on the retail allocation.
The Australian public offer itself was in the first filing, as covered in Anthropic’s IPO Runs Public Offers in Australia and 5 More. Bloomberg’s earlier report of a 15% to 20% retail slice is in Anthropic Weighs Up to 20% of Its IPO for Retail Investors.

The Structural Read
As we read the page next to the filing, the names and the sizes have arrived separately: the S-1/A carries the US six and the Australian prospectus language, while the international broker lists sit on a support page and the only reported size comes from Reuters’ report of the Japanese filing.
As we read it, the UK leg changed footing on 2 November: RetailBook’s role went from Bloomberg’s sourced reporting to Anthropic’s own page.

Three Implications
FOR AUSTRALIAN INVESTORS Anthropic’s page says the retail offer would be made under a prospectus to be lodged with ASIC, through eight named firms including CommSec and Macquarie.
FOR UK INVESTORS The page names six brokers and says RetailBook is the Public Offer Platform operator coordinating the UK retail offer.
FOR THE DEAL SIZE Reuters reported up to 552.9 billion yen ($3.5 billion) for Japan; we found no reported size for the other international legs.
The Business Engineer Lens
This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The AI Capex Map.
The framework reads: “It is a sovereign-scale financing problem dressed in tech-company clothing — and the financial architecture is starting to invert.”
As we read it, an IPO sold to individual investors through 42 broker listings in seven markets is one part of that financing architecture. The framework was published in May 2026 and does not discuss Anthropic’s offering.

What Is Not Established
We read only the first two paragraphs of Bloomberg’s article. Anthropic’s page gives no allocation, share count or price for any market, and calls the brokers “expected to participate”. We did not read the Australian, Canadian, European or Japanese offering documents; the Australian prospectus is described as still to be lodged. How many shares go to retail in total is not established. We did not contact Anthropic or the brokers.
The Bottom Line
Bloomberg reported that Anthropic tapped eight firms, including Macquarie and CommSec, for its Australian retail offer, citing Anthropic’s own broker page. With the S-1/A’s US six, that page brings the named retail sellers to 42 listings across seven markets, by our count, with a reported size only for Japan.

A note on sourcing. Bloomberg’s report was read in its first two paragraphs only. The broker lists are from Anthropic’s support page; filing quotes are from Anthropic’s SEC Form S-1/A; the Japan figure is from Reuters’ report of a Japanese filing. The counts of 36, 39 and 42 listings and of seven markets are ours.
