Similarweb said in a post on X on 28 October 2026 that “Claude continued to grow throughout October, recording 1.101 billion visits over the past 28 days and reaching an all-time high in daily website traffic last week.” The chart attached to the post marks the record at 47M visits on 22 October.
The figures are Similarweb’s and count visits to Claude’s website worldwide. They are not a count of people, and they do not cover the Claude apps or developers’ use of Claude through Anthropic’s platform.

An evergreen Business Engineer explainer on how reach decides which products get tried. It explains the general idea only and does not discuss Claude or Similarweb’s figures.
The key insight: As we read it, Similarweb’s count and Anthropic’s filing measure two ends of the same funnel: 1.101 billion website visits in 28 days on one side, and $3,222 million of subscription revenue in the first half of 2026 on the other.
What Similarweb’s Chart Shows

The chart is titled “Claude Records All-Time High in Daily Website Visits on October 22” and covers 27 September to 24 October 2026. Its footer reads “All Traffic | Worldwide”.
A marker on 22 October is labelled “47M Visits”. The line dips and recovers each week, and it falls through the last dates shown after the 22 October peak.
By our arithmetic, 1.101 billion visits over 28 days works out to about 39.3M visits a day on average. That puts the 22 October record about 20% above the 28-day daily average.

What Anthropic’s Filing Says About Claude.ai
Anthropic’s S-1, filed publicly on 26 October, calls Claude.ai “our flagship conversational product, available on desktop, web, and mobile.” The filing says that “Claude.ai delivers top-of-funnel demand generation for enterprise adoption.”
The filing also says that “in September 2026, we began merging Claude Cowork and Claude.ai, bringing agentic and conversational work into a unified application.” Similarweb’s post does not say what drove the October visits, and the record came after that merger began.
We found no count of visits or of monthly or weekly active users in the S-1. It reports revenue instead, split between consumption and subscriptions.
Where the Subscription Money Shows Up
The S-1 reports subscription-based revenue of $3,222 million for the six months ended 30 June 2026, up from $180 million a year earlier. Consumption-based revenue was $13,064 million, up from $983 million, for a total of $16,286 million.
By our arithmetic, subscriptions were about 20% of revenue in the first half of 2026, up from about 15% a year earlier, and subscription revenue grew nearly 18x.
The filing flags the risk in free use: “free users may be satisfied with the limited functionality available in free tiers, may not have budgets to support paid subscriptions, or may choose to use our free offerings indefinitely without converting to paid plans.”
Connecting the Coverage
In June we reported Similarweb’s count for May, when Claude.ai hit 952 million monthly visits. That was a calendar month, while the new figure covers 28 days, so we do not compare the two directly.
A day before the new post, Similarweb ranked the apps on the US App Store as of 26 October, with Claude at No. 11, behind Muse at No. 3 and ChatGPT at No. 4, as we noted in Muse vs ChatGPT: users give it 7.5 minutes a day vs 23.
The revenue figures above come from the filing we covered in Anthropic’s S-1 shows $16.3B half-year revenue, up 14x. The consumer race around it is in the personal agent race between OpenAI’s dots and Meta’s Muse.
The Structural Read
As we read it, the visit count speaks to the funnel Anthropic describes in its S-1, which says Claude.ai delivers top-of-funnel demand generation for enterprise adoption.
The S-1 also names the cost of free use: Anthropic says free users may stay on free tiers indefinitely without converting to paid plans.
By our arithmetic, subscriptions were about 20% of Anthropic’s revenue in the first half of 2026, and consumption-based revenue about 80%.
Anthropic, Form S-1, filed 26 October 2026
“A portion of our users access our models, platform, and applications through free tiers or promotional offerings, and we seek to convert these users into paying customers over time.”
Three Implications
FOR ANTHROPIC The S-1 calls Claude.ai the broadest entry point to Claude, and Similarweb counts a record 47M visits to the website on 22 October.
FOR RIVALS Similarweb’s App Store ranks as of 26 October put Claude at No. 11, behind Muse at No. 3 and ChatGPT at No. 4.
FOR ANYONE READING TRAFFIC DATA Similarweb counts website visits, not people, so one visitor can make many visits.
The Business Engineer Lens
This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The Subsidized AGI Economy.
The framework argues that an AI subscription bundles more than access, putting it plainly: “The subscription is not one product. It is three assets bundled at a single price.”
Anthropic’s S-1 puts subscription revenue at $3,222 million in the first half of 2026, and Similarweb counts the website traffic around it. The framework was published in June 2026 and does not discuss the October traffic.
What Is Not Established
Similarweb’s numbers are its own third-party measurements, not figures from Anthropic. They count website visits, so one person can account for many visits, and they leave out app and developer use.
The post does not say how many visitors pay for Claude, and it does not compare Claude’s October visits with ChatGPT’s or Gemini’s. We did not contact Anthropic or Similarweb.
The Bottom Line
Similarweb counts 1.101 billion visits to Claude’s website over the past 28 days, with a record 47M on 22 October. Anthropic’s S-1 calls Claude.ai its top-of-funnel product and reports $3,222 million of subscription revenue in the first half of 2026, up from $180 million.
