$10B Instinct Adds OpenTable, Its 4th Integration in 4 Days

Instinct, the personal AI agent that TechCrunch reported raised $1 billion at a $10 billion valuation in September, can now book and manage restaurant reservations through OpenTable, founder Noah Shinn said on X on 30 October.

By our count, OpenTable is the fourth integration with a named partner that Instinct’s X account has announced in about four days, after Stripe’s Link on 26 October, Shopify’s Shop Pay and 1Password.

Business Pill · DISTRIBUTION ADVANTAGE

A short Business Engineer explainer on distribution advantage: why access to customers and channels can matter as much as the product. It teaches the general idea only and does not discuss Instinct or OpenTable.

The key insight: Instinct said on 30 October that its agent can book and manage restaurant reservations through OpenTable; by our count that is its fourth integration with a named partner in about four days, after Stripe’s Link, Shopify’s Shop Pay and 1Password.

What Instinct Announced

Shinn wrote: “Your Instinct can now book and manage your reservations, from finding a table to moving the time when plans change.” Instinct’s own account posted that it is “partnering with @OpenTable so your Instinct can find and book restaurants that fit your taste, diet, and budget”.

Neither post gives commercial terms, fees or a start date beyond the announcement itself. Instinct describes itself on its website as “a personal assistant that understands what you’re working on and what’s important to you”, reached by text or phone call.

Instinct announced integrations with Stripe and Link (26 October), Shopify Shop Pay, 1Password (29 October) and OpenTable (30 October) on X; the Shop Pay post is dated by its place in Instinct’s timeline. The count of four is our arithmetic and excludes an iMessage group-chat feature that names no partner. The $10 billion valuation is from TechCrunch’s report of 28 September 2026.

What Was Posted on X

Instinct founder Noah Shinn announced the OpenTable partnership on X on 30 October. He wrote that Instinct can now book and manage reservations, from finding a table to moving the time when plans change, and invited users to ask their Instinct to book their next dinner.

Instinct’s account posted on 26 October that Link balance is live in Instinct, built with Stripe and Link: users add money and set a per-purchase limit, and the agent can make purchases on their behalf within those limits. The post says it is rolling out across the US, with New York coming soon.

Four Integrations in Four Days

On 26 October Instinct said “Link balance is live in Instinct, built with @stripe and @link”: users add money and set a per-purchase limit, and the agent “can make purchases on your behalf within those limits”.

Instinct also said that, through an “expanded partnership with @Shopify”, it can check out with Shop Pay “at any online store, not just Shopify stores”. It then “expanded our @1Password integration”, so that when a task needs a password, the user approves access and 1Password fills it in.

A fifth post in the same stretch added iMessage group chats; it names no partner and is not in our count. As we read the sequence, each integration gives the agent an approved way to pay, sign in or book inside another company’s system.

Why Reservations Matter to Instinct

In a podcast interview reported by TechCrunch on 29 September, Shinn said more than 50% of transactions on Instinct are travel-related and that the invite-only platform is approaching a billion dollars in annual transactions. TechCrunch noted he did not specify the calculation behind that rate.

TechCrunch also reported that Shinn said an agent can check restaurant sites every five seconds and inform the user about available slots, and that he “hinted that the company wants to reinvent reservations and give users preferential treatment”. As we read it, the OpenTable deal moves that use case onto a partner’s booking system.

The Money Behind the Agent

TechCrunch reported on 28 September that Instinct raised $1 billion from investors including Sequoia Capital, Benchmark Capital and Coatue, a month after a round that valued it at $2.5 billion; Instinct confirmed it was a Series C. We covered that round in Instinct Raises $1B Series C at $10B.

TechCrunch described Instinct as a 14-member startup competing with Meta’s Muse, and said the company has not shared its user numbers or any growth metrics. Related coverage: Mastercard’s one-time agent cards.

The Structural Read

As we read the four posts, Instinct is lining up an approved route for each step of a task: money through Link with a per-purchase limit, checkout through Shop Pay, logins through 1Password and tables through OpenTable.

As we read TechCrunch’s reports, reservations are close to the core of the product: Shinn described agents checking restaurant sites every five seconds and said more than 50% of transactions are travel-related.

As we read the funding record, these integrations come about a month after the $1 billion Series C that TechCrunch reported on 28 September; TechCrunch said then that Instinct had not shared its user numbers.

Noah Shinn, Instinct founder, in a statement reported by TechCrunch, 28 Sep 2026

“Weโ€™re building Instinct to be the best personal agent that can handle the deeply personal nuances of everyday life.”

Three Implications

FOR BOOKING PLATFORMS Instinct’s post says the agent can find and book restaurants that fit a user’s taste, diet and budget through OpenTable.

FOR PAYMENTS Instinct says Link balance lets users set a per-purchase limit, and that Shop Pay checkout now works at any online store, with the user approving every purchase.

FOR SECURITY Instinct says that with 1Password the user approves access in the app and passwords stay in 1Password.

The Business Engineer Lens

This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The Agentic Harness War.

The framework’s core line: “The surface, not the model, governs autonomy.”

As we read it, Instinct’s surface is a text thread and a phone line, and its partner integrations decide what that surface can do: pay, sign in and book. The framework was published in July 2026 and does not discuss Instinct.

What Is Not Established

The posts we read do not give the terms of the OpenTable partnership, whether OpenTable earns a fee per booking, or how many Instinct users can use it today. The documents we read do not include an announcement from OpenTable.

Shinn’s transaction figures come from a podcast as reported by TechCrunch, which said he did not explain the calculation. TechCrunch reported on 28 September that Instinct had not shared its user numbers.

The Bottom Line

Instinct, valued at $10 billion in its September Series C according to TechCrunch, said on 30 October that its agent can now book and manage restaurant reservations through OpenTable. By our count it is the agent’s fourth integration with a named partner in about four days, after Stripe’s Link, Shopify’s Shop Pay and 1Password.

A note on sourcing. The OpenTable, Stripe and Link, Shop Pay and 1Password announcements come from Instinct’s and Noah Shinn’s posts on X as read on 30 October 2026; funding and podcast figures come from TechCrunch’s reports of 28 and 29 September 2026. We did not contact Instinct or OpenTable. Figures labelled our arithmetic are our own.
