Oracle filed WARN layoff notices covering 1,977 jobs in California and Washington in 2026, by our count of the two states’ public WARN records. The notices came in two rounds: 1,177 jobs in notices dated 31 March and 1 April, effective 1 June, and 800 jobs in notices dated 14 September, effective 13 November.
This follows our report on the 800 November layoffs. California’s report for the year to 30 June 2026 also lists four Oracle notices from April covering 702 workers, which our first piece did not include.
Business Pill · Concentration Explained
A short explainer on concentration. It teaches the general idea only and does not discuss Oracle or these notices.
The key insight: By our count, Oracle’s 2026 WARN notices in California and Washington total 1,977 permanent layoffs in two rounds, about 1.4% of the 141,000 full-time employees it reported on 31 May.
The Spring Round: 1,177 Jobs
California’s WARN report for 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026 lists four Oracle America, Inc. notices dated 1 April 2026, processed on 2 April and effective on 1 June 2026, each marked “Layoff Permanent” (California WARN report, FY2026).
They cover 310 workers at 500 Oracle Parkway in Redwood City, 184 at 4230 Leonard Stocking Drive in Santa Clara, 158 at 5815 Owens Drive in Pleasanton and 50 at 1620 26th Street in Santa Monica. By our arithmetic, that is 702 workers.
Washington’s database lists an Oracle America, Inc. notice received on 31 March 2026 covering 475 workers in “Seattle and Remote”, a permanent layoff with a start date of 1 June 2026 (Washington WARN database). With California’s 702, the spring round comes to 1,177 jobs, by our arithmetic.

The November Round: 800 Jobs
The second round, dated 14 September and effective 13 November, covers 359 workers in Seattle, 279 in Redwood City, 99 in Santa Clara and 63 in Pleasanton, according to the Washington database and California’s current WARN report (California WARN report). We covered it in detail on 7 November.
Our Numbers
By our count of these eight notices, Oracle’s 2026 filings total 1,977 jobs: 1,143 in California, or 57.8%, and 834 in Washington, or 42.2%. Washington’s two notices, for Seattle and Seattle and remote staff, total 834. Redwood City is the largest California site across both rounds at 589 workers, followed by Santa Clara at 283 and Pleasanton at 221.
Oracle’s annual report says it employed approximately 141,000 full-time employees as of 31 May 2026, about 49,000 of them in the US (Oracle 10-K). By our arithmetic, 1,977 is about 1.4% of the total and about 4.0% of the US figure. The notices may not count only full-time staff, so these shares are approximate.
The same state records list an earlier Oracle round in 2025. California’s report lists eight Oracle notices dated 13 August to 1 October 2025 covering 548 workers, and Washington lists three notices received from August to October 2025 covering 266. By our arithmetic, that round totals 814 jobs.
What the Notices Cover
WARN laws require larger employers to give advance notice of mass layoffs. The notices list headcounts, sites and dates. They do not say why the jobs are being cut, and we found no Oracle statement about them in what we read.
Our count covers only the two states whose records we read. Oracle also has large operations in Texas, where it is headquartered; Texas’s WARN listing could not be reached from our location when we checked on 7 November, so Texas is not in the total.
Connecting the Coverage
Bloomberg reported on 6 November that Microsoft is winding down a deal to rent AI computing capacity from Oracle; see our piece on the Microsoft report. The spring notices were filed in March and April and the autumn notices in September, before that report, and nothing in them links the two.
Our June piece on Oracle’s earlier layoffs covers its wider job cuts.
The Structural Read
As we read the records, the spring round was the larger one: 1,177 jobs in notices dated 31 March and 1 April, against 800 in the 14 September notices.
As we read California’s FY2026 report, the April notices added 702 workers at four sites, including 50 in Santa Monica, a site that does not appear in the November round.
As we read the dates, all eight 2026 notices predate Bloomberg’s 6 November report on Microsoft and Oracle, so they say nothing about that report.
Oracle, Form 10-K for the year ended 31 May 2026
“As of May 31, 2026, we employed approximately 141,000 full-time employees”
Three Implications
FOR READERS SIZING THE CUTS By our arithmetic, 1,977 is about 1.4% of Oracle’s full-time workforce and about 4.0% of its US headcount, using the 10-K’s 31 May figures.
FOR READING THE GEOGRAPHY By our count, California accounts for 1,143 of the 1,977 jobs, or 57.8%, and Washington for 834, or 42.2%.
FOR READING THE TOTAL The count covers only notices filed in California and Washington that met WARN thresholds; Texas is not included, and the notices give no reason for the cuts.
The Business Engineer Lens
This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The AI Capex Map.
The framework sets out to map the financing of AI: “How the money flows, where it cracks, what it buys, who can absorb it, and what happens when revenue can’t catch up.”
The framework does not discuss Oracle’s workforce or these notices.
What Is Not Established
The notices do not say why Oracle cut these jobs, which teams were affected, or whether some workers were offered other roles. Our total covers only California and Washington and only notices that met WARN thresholds, so it is not Oracle’s full count of 2026 job cuts. The percentage shares use Oracle’s 31 May headcount.
The Bottom Line
Eight state WARN notices show Oracle filing for 1,977 layoffs in California and Washington in 2026, in two rounds of 1,177 and 800 jobs. By our arithmetic, that is about 1.4% of its full-time workforce. The notices give no reason.

A note on sourcing. The layoff figures, dates and sites come from the Washington Employment Security Department WARN database and California Employment Development Department WARN reports (the current report and the report for 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026), read on 7 November 2026; headcount comes from Oracle’s Form 10-K for the year ended 31 May 2026. Totals, state splits and percentage shares are our count and arithmetic. Texas is not included. The notices do not state a reason for the cuts.
