Ferrari Free Cash Flow Jumps 43% as Revenue per Car Rises 8%

Ferrari’s industrial free cash flow rose 43% to €567 million in the third quarter, on net revenues of €1,896 million, up 7% (10% at constant currency), according to its results release. Shipments fell to 3,368 cars from 3,401.

By our arithmetic, cars and spare parts revenue came to about €471,000 per car shipped, against about €435,000 a year earlier, a rise of about 8%. The figure includes spare parts and personalisation, so it is not a list price.

Business Pill ยท Operating Leverage

A short Business Engineer explainer on operating leverage: why profit moves faster than sales. It teaches the general idea only and does not discuss Ferrari.

The key insight: By our arithmetic, Ferrari earned about €471,000 of cars and spare parts revenue per car shipped in the third quarter, about 8% more than a year earlier, on 33 fewer cars.

Fewer Cars, More per Car

Cars and spare parts revenue rose 7% to €1,586 million, “thanks to a richer sports cars mix and higher personalizations”, Ferrari said. Operating profit (EBIT) rose 12% to €563 million, a 29.7% margin, which it said was “mostly attributable to a positive product mix”, mainly the F80, and higher personalisations.

Ferrari said deliveries reflected a planned model change-over: deliveries of the Amalfi, 296 Speciale, 12Cilindri Spider and Purosangue increased, while the Roma Spider, 296 GTS and SF90 XX family phased out.

Wall St Engine posted its summary of Ferrariโ€™s third-quarter results at 11:34 UTC on 3 November, including โ‚ฌ1.90 billion of revenue, 3,368 shipments and โ‚ฌ567 million of industrial free cash flow. Figures in this piece are checked against Ferrariโ€™s release.

Where Shipments Fell

Shipments to mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan fell to 143 from 248, a drop of about 42% by our arithmetic, taking that region to about 4.2% of shipments from 7.3%. EMEA rose to 1,487 from 1,449, the Americas to 1,050 from 1,045, and the rest of Asia-Pacific to 688 from 659.

Chief executive Benedetto Vigna said: “Our order book now reaches into 2028, and we still have two more launches to come this year”.

The Upgraded Guide

Ferrari raised its 2026 guidance to about €7.65 billion of net revenues, at least €3.00 billion of adjusted EBITDA, at least €2.285 billion of adjusted EBIT and adjusted diluted EPS of at least €9.85. It now guides industrial free cash flow of up to €1.65 billion, against at least €1.55 billion before.

By our arithmetic, after €1,496 million of industrial free cash flow in nine months, the new ceiling leaves up to about €154 million for the fourth quarter, against €567 million in the third. The revenue guide implies about €1.97 billion in the fourth quarter.

Ferrari bought back shares for €173 million in the quarter and €61.5 million from 1 to 30 October. The Wall St Engine post put the consensus estimate cited by Wall St Engine at €1.89 billion for revenue and €2.38 for diluted EPS, against €1,896 million and €2.44 reported.

The Structural Read

As we read the release, the growth is mix, not volume: shipments fell 1% while cars and spare parts revenue rose 7%, which Ferrari put down to a richer mix and personalisation.

As we read the guide, the cash ceiling of up to €1.65 billion leaves a small fourth quarter after a €567 million third, by our arithmetic; Ferrari does not explain the shape.

The Business Engineer Lens

This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The Nine Layers of AI.

The framework argues, of the AI stack: “This entire ecosystem has been shaped by constraints, bottlenecks, chokepoints, and scarcity at every layer.”

As we read it, Ferrari runs scarcity as the business model: fewer cars, more revenue per car and an order book Vigna says reaches into 2028. The framework is about AI, is the owner’s argument and does not discuss Ferrari.

What Is Not Established

Ferrari does not give fourth-quarter guidance or explain the shape of the year’s cash flow; the implied figures are our arithmetic. It does not give a reason for the drop in China shipments in this release, and it based its guidance on “current visibility on the Middle East crisis effects”.
