Similarweb’s post said: “All websites saw an increase in traffic except Reddit.” It added that TikTok “was the fastest-growing website, climbing to 7th place” and that WhatsApp moved up to eighth while Reddit “dropped two spots to 9th.”
The table lists monthly visits and month-on-month change for each domain. google.com led with 88.44 billion visits, up 3.86%. youtube.com had 29.91 billion, up 3.97%. facebook.com had 11.26 billion, up 2.93%, and instagram.com 7.688 billion, up 5.45%.
chatgpt.com came fifth with 6.048 billion, up 2.15%. Below it, x.com had 4.379 billion, up 4.78%; tiktok.com 3.956 billion, up 6.06%; whatsapp.com 3.802 billion, up 3.28%; reddit.com 3.777 billion, down 1.28%; and bing.com 3.722 billion, up 4.49%.

Where the AI Assistant Sits
chatgpt.com is the only AI assistant domain in Similarweb’s top 10 for October. Its 2.15% month-on-month rise was the ninth of the ten changes in the table; only reddit.com, which fell, was lower. By our arithmetic, chatgpt.com drew about 1.38 times x.com’s visits.
Similarweb’s table does not show gemini.google.com or claude.ai. The figures are Similarweb’s estimates of visits to each domain.
Claude Code’s Own Curve
On November 4, Similarweb posted a separate chart of visits to claude.ai/code, the web home of Claude Code, over the 12 months to September 2026 (Similarweb). The post said: “Claude Code has grown significantly over the past year”. As we reported on November 4, the chart’s points run from about 0.9 million visits in October 2025 to about 11.2 million in September 2026, values read off the chart because Similarweb did not label them.
That series ends in September and covers one subfolder of claude.ai, so it is not comparable with the domain totals in the October table.

By our arithmetic, chatgpt.com’s 6.048 billion October visits were about 6.8% of google.com’s 88.44 billion, from Similarweb’s table.
The Structural Read
As we read Similarweb’s table, chatgpt.com is the only AI assistant domain among the top 10 websites in October, in fifth place behind google.com, youtube.com, facebook.com and instagram.com.
As we read the month-on-month column, nine of the ten sites grew and chatgpt.com’s 2.15% was the smallest of those nine rises; reddit.com, at minus 1.28%, was the only decline.
As we read Similarweb’s separate Claude Code chart, it covers one subfolder, claude.ai/code, through September, so it is not comparable with the October domain totals.

The analysis describes the distribution layer as “The surfaces through which AI reaches end users.”
As we read it, Similarweb’s October table measures one of those surfaces, the web, where chatgpt.com sits fifth. The analysis does not discuss Similarweb’s figures.
What Is Not Established
Similarweb’s numbers are its estimates, not figures reported by the sites. The table gives one month’s change, so it does not show a trend on its own, and it does not list AI assistant domains outside the top 10.
