Apple on 13 October 2026 introduced Apple HomeView, a $299 home device with a 7-inch display and Siri AI. It also launched a new Apple TV 4K at $299, HomePod mini 2 at $149 and smart home accessories made with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.
Apple says HomeView is not available for sale in the European Union, “as Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS in the EU,” and that it is “working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward.”
Business Pill · ON-DEVICE AI
A one-minute explainer of on-device AI: running a model on the device itself instead of in a data centre. It teaches the general idea only and says nothing about any company in this story.
The key insight: As we read it, Apple is putting its new assistant on the shared devices of the home, and the EU line shows how much the product depends on Siri AI: Apple says HomeView is not for sale there “as Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS in the EU.”
What Apple Announced
HomeView pairs a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with a domed speaker base and can sit on a tabletop or be wall-mounted, according to Apple’s release. Apple says it recognises up to six people by their faces and gives each one a personal Home Screen.
Apple says the new Apple TV 4K uses an A19 chip with up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the previous generation, plus far-field microphones for hands-free Siri. HomePod mini 2 uses the Apple S10 chip, the company says.
Apple Home Collection covers indoor and outdoor cameras, thermostats, temperature sensors, a video doorbell and a door lock, designed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric and managed in the Apple Home app.

The Prices and Dates
Apple lists HomeView and the wall-mounted HomeView at $299 each, with availability from Friday, 13 November. The new Apple TV 4K is $299, or $49.83 a month for six months, also from 13 November. HomePod mini 2 is $149, available from Friday, 30 October.
The Home Collection starts in December, with select accessories in early 2027. Apple lists the LG Video Doorbell Wired from $249.95, the LG Floodlight Cam from $399.95 and the LG Smart Deadbolt Lock from $349.95.
What Siri AI Does Here
Apple describes Siri AI as an entirely new version of Siri, “profoundly more capable and conversational,” with broad world knowledge and, when paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, access to a user’s personal context such as Messages and Calendar.
On HomePod mini 2, Apple says Siri AI arrives “in a future software update” and that requests can use on-device processing or Private Cloud Compute. Apple says Siri AI on these devices is available in English in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK.

The EU Gap
Apple’s HomeView release says the device is not for sale in the European Union because Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS there, and the same line appears in the Home Collection release. The releases do not say when, or whether, that will change.
How Apple Makes Money, Visualized
The home launch sits on top of Apple’s existing revenue mix. Our video walks through Apple’s fiscal 2025 income statement, from revenue by segment to operating profit.
The Structural Reading
As we read it, Apple is placing Siri AI on the shared screens and speakers of the home, the places where an assistant is used by a whole household rather than one person.
As we read it, the accessory makers build to Apple’s Home app while the assistant and the devices stay Apple’s own; the releases give no revenue terms with LG Electronics or Schneider Electric.
Update, 19 October: Gurman Says a Robotic HomeView Is Planned for 2027 or 2028
In his Power On newsletter for Bloomberg on 18 October, Mark Gurman reported that “Apple is already developing a higher-end version with a robotic limb that can automatically swivel the screen toward whoever is speaking.” He wrote that the version is “planned for release in 2027 or 2028,” is code-named J595, and “looks like the current HomeView but has a roughly 9-inch screen (up from 7 inches) and a motorized robotic arm that lets the display swivel a full 360 degrees.” Apple has not announced such a product.
Gurman wrote that “the robotic model isn’t a successor but something higher-end,” and that “it’s unclear what Apple will call it.” He gave no price. He also reported that the $299 HomeView runs an A18 processor with 8 gigabytes of memory and that “finished units have been sitting boxed up in warehouses for the better part of a year,” and he called the lack of third-party apps what he considers “the biggest flaw.” Those are his reporting and his assessments, not Apple’s statements.
The Structural Read
Apple says HomeView recognises up to six people by their faces and gives each one a personal Home Screen.
Apple says Siri requests on HomePod mini 2 can use on-device processing or Private Cloud Compute.
As we read it, the household screen is where an assistant serves several people at once, which is why personal recognition sits next to Siri AI in Apple’s pitch.

“Apple HomeView is designed to be shared by everyone in the home yet feel completely personal to each user”

The Business Engineer Lens
This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The Open vs Closed Meta-Framework.
The framework puts the pattern this way: “Close the SCARCE layer (keep proprietary) + Open the ABUNDANT layer (commoditize)”.
As we read it, Apple keeps Siri AI and its own devices closed while partners such as LG Electronics and Schneider Electric build accessories for the Apple Home app.
What Is Not Established
Apple’s releases give no sales targets, no launch-day orders and no date for Siri AI in the EU. Siri AI on HomePod mini 2 is described as coming in a future software update, without a date. All specifications and performance figures are Apple’s own.
The Bottom Line
Apple has introduced the $299 HomeView with Siri AI. HomeView and Apple TV 4K are available from 13 November and HomePod mini 2 from 30 October; the Home Collection follows from December, with select accessories in early 2027. Apple says HomeView is not for sale in the European Union because Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS there.
