Ray-Ban Meta Audio Goes on Sale at $349, $100 Below Gen 3

Meta said on 13 October 2026 that Ray-Ban Meta Audio, which it calls its first audio glasses, is now on sale starting at $349, according to a post on its blog.

That is $100 below the $449 starting price Meta gave for Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) at Connect 2026, by our arithmetic from Meta’s own figures. Meta says the glasses weigh 43 grams and last up to 12 hours on a single charge.

Business Pill · MULTIMODAL

A one-minute explainer of multimodal AI: models that work with images, sound and video as well as text. It teaches the general idea only and says nothing about any company in this story.

The key insight: As we read it, Meta is turning the feature it says people use most into its own line: Meta says Ray-Ban Meta Audio is its first audio glasses, on sale from $349, against $449 for Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) in its Connect price list.

What Meta Is Selling

Meta’s post says audio has always been the most popular feature on its AI glasses, because the open-ear speakers deliver sound for hours “without blocking the world around you.”

With Ray-Ban Meta Audio, the post says, you can listen to music, take calls and talk to Meta AI wherever you go. Meta calls them “Our Lightest and Slimmest AI Glasses Ever.”

The glasses come in two Ray-Ban styles, Clubmaster and Burbank, in 23 frame and lens combinations, each available with prescription lenses, according to Meta.

What Was Posted on X

Andrew Bosworth, Meta’s chief technology officer, posted on 13 October 2026 that the first Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses are on sale. He writes that open-ear audio has been the most popular feature on Meta’s AI glasses since day one, so Meta made a new line around it, and calls it the best sound quality on the lightest and most comfortable frames Meta has made. That is his framing of the product; the prices and specifications in this piece come from Meta’s own posts.

The Numbers Meta Gives

Meta says the glasses weigh 43 grams. It says they deliver up to 12 hours on a single charge or up to 6 hours of continuous audio playback.

The included charging case adds up to 48 more hours, and fast charging reaches 50% in 22 minutes, the post says.

Meta lists where to buy them: Meta.com, Ray-Ban.com, Ray-Ban stores, Meta Lab stores, EssilorLuxottica’s owned and operated retail locations and select third-party retailers.

Where $349 Sits in Meta’s Lineup

Meta’s Connect 2026 post, which introduced the Audio glasses, gives US starting prices across the range. It lists Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) at $449, Meta Glasses by Kylie Jenner in Ivory at $399, the Meta LISA Editions at $399, a limited-edition Ray-Ban Aviator at $579 and a new Meta Adventurer with a plug-in case at $249.

Meta says that by the end of this year it will offer more than 100 different AI glasses options through its partnership with EssilorLuxottica.

As we read it, the Audio line gives Meta a Ray-Ban-branded entry below Gen 3, built around the feature it says people use most.

What Bosworth Said

Andrew Bosworth, Meta’s chief technology officer, posted on X on launch day that open-ear audio has been the most popular feature on Meta’s AI glasses “since day one,” so the company “leaned into it and made a new line.”

The glasses arrive in a busy week for Meta’s AI products: Meta has also set prices for its Muse Wonder plans, and JPMorgan Chase said it would bar outside AI agents like Muse from directly accessing its customers’ accounts.

The Structural Read

As we read it, the price list now has a Ray-Ban entry below Gen 3: Meta gives $349 for Audio and $449 for Gen 3, and its cheapest listed new model is the $249 Meta Adventurer with a plug-in case.

As we read it, the line is built around listening and talking to Meta AI: the post lists music, calls and Meta AI, and puts the emphasis on weight (43 grams) and battery (up to 12 hours).

As we read it, distribution runs through EssilorLuxottica: Meta names its retail locations alongside Meta.com and Ray-Ban.com, and says the partnership will bring more than 100 options by the end of the year.

Three Implications

BUYERS Meta says Audio starts at $349 in 23 frame and lens combinations, each available with prescription lenses.

META’S GLASSES RANGE Meta’s Connect post lists starting prices from $249 to $579 across Meta, Ray-Ban and limited-edition models.

ESSILORLUXOTTICA Meta names EssilorLuxottica’s owned and operated retail locations among the places to buy Audio.

The Business Engineer Lens

This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The Open vs Closed Meta-Framework.

The framework puts it this way: “Close the SCARCE layer (keep proprietary) + Open the ABUNDANT layer (commoditize)”.

As we read it, the glasses show one version of that pattern: Meta says it will offer more than 100 frame options through EssilorLuxottica, while the post names Meta AI as the assistant on Audio.

Ray-Ban Meta Audio battery as Meta states it: up to 12 hours on a single charge, up to 6 hours of continuous audio, up to 48 more hours from the case
Battery figures from Meta’s 13 October 2026 post: up to 12 hours on a single charge or up to 6 hours of continuous audio playback, up to 48 more hours from the charging case, and 50% in 22 minutes with fast charging.

What Is Not Established

Neither Meta post we read lists a camera among the Audio glasses’ features, while the Gen 3 section of the Connect post describes a 12 MP camera; Meta does not say in these posts whether Audio has one. The posts give no sales figures, no prices outside the US and no list of countries where Audio is on sale.

A note on sourcing. On 13 October 2026 we read in full Meta’s blog post of that day on Ray-Ban Meta Audio, Meta’s Connect 2026 post that introduced it and set out its glasses prices, and Andrew Bosworth’s X post. Prices, specifications and availability are Meta’s own statements; the $100 gap to Gen 3 is our arithmetic from Meta’s figures. Meta gives no sales figures. Nothing here is investment advice.
