Nvidia Plans Five UK Startup Stakes Before a $2B Europe Push

Nvidia announced new planned investments in five UK startups on 14 October 2026: Boltz, Foresight, Hiverge, Prima Mente and Riverlane, according to a post on its own blog. The post does not give the size of any of the investments.

Chief executive Jensen Huang announced the bets at an event in London, Tech.eu reported, adding that Nvidia is understood to be taking a minority stake in the five companies.

The key insight: As we read it, Nvidia named where it wants a seat rather than what it is paying: its post lists five companies across biology, algorithms, infrastructure and quantum computing, and gives no amounts.

The Five Companies

Boltz is a London-based AI startup founded by MIT researchers that builds biomolecular models and AI agents to help scientists predict molecular structures and interactions and design potential new medicines, according to Nvidia’s post.

Foresight, also based in London, helps owners of major infrastructure projects, including hyperscale data centres, predict completion dates, mitigate risks and accelerate time to revenue, the post says.

Hiverge is a Cambridge-based startup founded by researchers from Google DeepMind and the University of Cambridge. Nvidia describes it as building an AI discovery engine that writes and optimises algorithms for tasks such as faster AI training and complex logistics planning.

Prima Mente, a London-based AI biology startup, builds biological foundation models to decode complex diseases and identify new therapeutic targets, starting with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and ALS, according to Nvidia.

Riverlane, based in Cambridge, builds real-time error correction hardware and software for quantum computers across all major qubit types, the post says. Nvidia adds that Riverlane has shown how GPUs can accelerate decoder recalibration workflows used in quantum error correction.

Startups Nvidia named on its European tour: four new French investments named in Paris on 13 October (The Next Web), five new planned UK investments announced on 14 October, and four existing UK holdings named in the same Nvidia post. Nvidia’s post gives no amounts for the UK deals, and The Next Web’s report names none for the French ones.</figcaption></figure>

AI commentator @kimmonismus posted on 14 October 2026, with video of Huang at the London event, that ‘Jensen also announces 5 new big investments in UK company’s’, followed by a joking line he presents as a quote from Huang (‘I give you money and you money and you money…’). We have not matched that wording to a transcript, so the piece does not treat it as Huang’s words; the five companies and the investments come from Nvidia’s own post.

What Nvidia Already Holds in the UK

Nvidia’s post says it has been investing in the UK startup ecosystem, supporting companies including Basecamp Research, Ineffable Intelligence, Synthesia and Wayve.

The same post points to Nvidia’s five-year, $250 million compute commitment for UK agentic safety and security research, and says Nvidia is joining the Earthshot Prize as a Global Alliance Founding Partner. It counts more than 3,100 UK companies in its Nvidia Inception program for startups.

The European Tour

The UK bets follow a stop in Paris. On 13 October Huang said Nvidia will announce $2 billion of European investments within a week, on top of $8 billion put into the continent over the past year, The Next Web reported, citing Bloomberg. In Paris he named four French startups: Doctolib, Genesis AI, Pigment and Entalpic, according to The Next Web.

“Europe needs to get in the race,” Huang said at the Paris event, according to The Next Web, which reported that he pitched open-source models as cheaper and more adaptable for the continent.

Nvidia’s post directs readers to Huang’s GTC Berlin keynote on Wednesday, 21 October, at 11 a.m. CEST.

Speaking outside the London event, Huang was asked about relations with China. “I have dialogue with many researchers in China, and we ought to continue to exchange dialogue,” he said in a video recorded by a Bloomberg reporter, as quoted by Tech.eu.

The Structural Read

As we read it, the spread is the point: the five companies work in drug design, disease biology, algorithm discovery, infrastructure forecasting and quantum error correction, according to Nvidia’s own descriptions.

As we read it, Foresight sits closest to Nvidia’s own customers: Nvidia’s post says it helps owners of projects including hyperscale data centres predict completion dates and accelerate time to revenue.

As we read it, the amounts matter more than the names: the post gives none, and it does not say how the UK deals relate to the $2 billion European figure Huang described in Paris, as reported by The Next Web.

Three Implications

UK FOUNDERS Nvidia’s post counts more than 3,100 UK companies in its Inception program for startups.

QUANTUM COMPUTING Nvidia’s post says Riverlane has shown how GPUs can accelerate decoder recalibration workflows used in quantum error correction.

DRUG DISCOVERY Two of the five, Boltz and Prima Mente, build AI models for biology and medicine, according to Nvidia’s descriptions.

The Business Engineer Lens

This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The Nine Layers of AI.

The framework describes the AI economy as a stack rather than a race: “It is a layered industrial stack โ€” and at any given moment, the binding constraint sits at a different layer than it did six months ago.”

As we read it, Nvidia’s five UK bets sit in layers above its own chips, from biology models to quantum error correction. The framework does not discuss these investments.

Nvidia Europe figures in millions of dollars: about 8,000 invested in Europe over the past year (reported), 2,000 to be announced within a week (Huang), 250 UK safety compute over five years
The $8 billion past-year and $2 billion within-a-week figures are as reported by The Next Web, citing Bloomberg (13 October 2026); the $250 million five-year UK compute commitment is Nvidia’s own (14 October 2026). None of these is the value of the five UK investments, which Nvidia did not disclose.

What Is Not Established

Nvidia’s post calls the five deals planned investments and gives no amounts, stake sizes or terms. The minority-stake detail comes from Tech.eu, which writes that it is understood rather than confirmed.

The post does not say whether the UK investments count toward the $2 billion European figure that Huang described in Paris, as reported by The Next Web.

The Bottom Line

Nvidia has named five UK startups it plans to back, in drug design, disease biology, algorithm discovery, infrastructure forecasting and quantum error correction, without disclosing what it is paying.

The announcement sits between Huang’s Paris remarks on a $2 billion European push, as reported by The Next Web citing Bloomberg, and his GTC Berlin keynote on 21 October.

A note on sourcing. We read Nvidia’s 14 October 2026 blog post in full; the five companies, their descriptions and Nvidia’s existing UK holdings come from it. The minority-stake detail, the London event and Huang’s China remark are from Tech.eu’s 15 October report, read in full. The $2 billion and $8 billion European figures, the French startups and the Paris quote are from The Next Web’s 13 October report, which cites Bloomberg; we did not read Bloomberg’s article directly.
