Variety reported on 25 October 2026 that Elon Musk has “partially followed through” on his July promise that his AI tool Grok Imagine would make an AI-generated “Odyssey” film. The Grok Imagine account posted the first 7-minute, AI-generated episode of an “Odyssey” series on X on 23 October 2026.
The video on that post runs 7 minutes 12 seconds and is in 4K, at 3840 by 2160. The post credited the work as a creative collaboration with Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker. Musk quote-posted it with four words: “Odyssey with Grok Imagine”.
Business Pill · DISTRIBUTION ADVANTAGE
A short explainer of distribution advantage: reaching people through a channel you already own. It teaches the general idea only and says nothing about Grok Imagine or X.
The key insight: As we read it, Grok Imagine has turned Musk’s July promise into a distribution test: the first 7-minute episode went out on X on 23 October, Musk shared it, and Grok Imagine’s own post showed 3,955,704 views when we read it on 25 October.
What Grok Imagine Posted
The Grok Imagine post went up at 19:23 UTC on 23 October 2026. Its text reads: “Watch Episode 1 of our Odyssey series made with Grok Imagine.” It also asks viewers: “Let us know in the comments if you’d like a full breakdown of how it was done!”
Variety said the account credited the “creative collaboration” to Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker, “both of which specialize in AI filmmaking.” Tesla North reported that Wonder Studios shared the episode too, writing: “Homer didn’t have Grokโฆ we do.”
Tesla North described Grok Imagine as “the image and video generator from SpaceXSI”. Mashable called it “the AI video generator from his company xAI.” Tesla North also reported that Grok Imagine “hasn’t said how many episodes are planned or when the next one arrives”.

What Was Posted on X
Grok Imagine (@imagine) posted Episode 1 of its Odyssey series on 23 October 2026, saying it was made with Grok Imagine and crediting a creative collaboration with @WonderStudiosX and director Dev Walker.
Elon Musk (@elonmusk) posted “Odyssey with Grok Imagine”.
The Promise It Answers
In July, Variety reported, Musk wrote: “Before this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer.” Variety said the episode comes after Musk repeatedly criticised Nolan’s film of “The Odyssey” ahead of its release.
Variety’s word for the episode is “partially”: the promise was a feature-length film, and what has been posted is a 7-minute first episode. Mashable called it “the first of several planned episodes”.
How Far It Travelled on X
When we read the two posts at about 17:30 UTC on 25 October 2026, Grok Imagine’s post showed 3,955,704 views and 16,394 likes. Musk’s quote-post, published at 05:45 UTC on 24 October, showed 2,190,746 views and 17,977 likes. View counts change over time and are as X displayed them.

By our arithmetic, Grok Imagine’s own post had about 1.8 times the views of Musk’s quote-post at that read.
Where It Meets Our Coverage
Our Higgsfield piece covers Higgsfield, the AI video startup, which said it has more than 40 million registered users, according to a Bloomberg report, and which Nvidia backed in an extension of its Series B.
As we read it, the Odyssey episode is a showcase for Grok Imagine more than a product launch: the post sells no ticket and gives no price, and it asks viewers whether they want a breakdown of how it was made.
The Structural Read
As we read it, this is the July promise in instalments: Variety called it a partial delivery, because Musk promised a full-length film and what has been posted is a 7-minute Episode 1.
As we read it, the post works as a demonstration of the tool: it names Grok Imagine, credits a studio and a director, and asks viewers whether they want a full breakdown of how it was done.
As we read it, the reach comes from X itself: Musk’s quote-post showed 2,190,746 views at the same read, and Grok Imagine’s own post showed about 1.8 times that, by our arithmetic.
Grok Imagine, on X, 23 October 2026
“Watch Episode 1 of our Odyssey series made with Grok Imagine.”
Three Implications
FOR GROK IMAGINE Tesla North reported that Grok Imagine hasn’t said how many episodes are planned or when the next one arrives.
FOR AI FILMMAKING STUDIOS Variety said Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker both specialize in AI filmmaking, and the post credits them as collaborators.
FOR THE JULY PROMISE Variety reported that Musk wrote the full-length film would come before the end of 2026.
The Business Engineer Lens
This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The Product Overhang Doctrine.
The framework sets out two curves: “The first is what your underlying technology can do. The second is what your users can actually do with it.”
As we read it, a studio-made episode shows the first curve, what the tool can produce with professional help; the post’s offer of a breakdown of how it was done points at the second. The framework was published in June 2026 and does not discuss Grok Imagine.
What Is Not Established
Neither post says how much of the episode Grok Imagine generated and how much the studio edited, what it cost, how many episodes are planned, or when a full-length film would follow. The sources we read carry no statement from Musk’s companies beyond the two posts, and we did not contact them. Variety said no further statement accompanied the episode.
The Bottom Line
Grok Imagine posted Episode 1 of an AI-made “Odyssey” series on X on 23 October 2026, a 7-minute 4K video credited to Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker, and Musk shared it. Variety called it a partial delivery on Musk’s July promise of a full-length film by the end of 2026.
