IonQ Revenue Up 336% to $173.8M; 48% Came From SkyWater

IonQ reported third-quarter revenue of $173.8 million, up 336% from a year earlier, and raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $505 million to $515 million, the quantum computing company said in its earnings release on 5 November. The release splits the quarter into two segments: IonQ Platform revenue of $90.3 million, up 127%, and SkyWater Foundry Services revenue of $83.5 million.

By our arithmetic, SkyWater, the chip foundry IonQ now owns, supplied about 48% of the quarter’s revenue. The release says non-IonQ quantum customer revenue at SkyWater rose more than 30% year over year.

Business Pill · Vertical Integration

A short Business Engineer explainer on vertical integration. It teaches the general idea only and does not discuss IonQ.

The key insight: IonQ reported revenue of $173.8 million, up 336%, and raised 2026 guidance to $505 million to $515 million. About 48% of the quarter came from its SkyWater foundry, by our arithmetic, and its $564.0 million net income reflects warrant mark-to-market, against a $133.6 million adjusted EBITDA loss.

What IonQ Reported

  • Revenue of $173.8 million, up 336% year over year, the sixth consecutive record quarter.
  • Remaining performance obligations of $1.2 billion, which CFO Inder Singh said “more than doubled”.
  • Net income attributable to IonQ of $564.0 million, reflecting the non-cash mark-to-market impact of warrants; adjusted EBITDA loss of $133.6 million.
  • $3.7 billion of cash, cash equivalents and investments, pro forma for its 16 October equity offering.
  • Full-year guidance of $505 million to $515 million, with 110% expected growth in quantum computing revenue.

Wall St Engine posted IonQ’s results at 21:11 UTC on 5 November: revenue of $173.8 million against an estimate of $142 million, up 336%.

The AI Link

Chief executive Niccolo de Masi said “NVIDIA will deploy a Superion 256 system as the first on-premise quantum computer at its Accelerated Quantum Research Center โ€“ connected directly to its AI supercomputing infrastructure.” He described IonQ’s machines as “built for data centers and designed to work with classical computing.” The release also says IonQ advanced to Stage C of DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, with a potential program value of up to $300 million.

The Structural Read

As we read the release, the headline growth is partly an acquisition effect: the foundry segment did not exist in IonQ’s year-ago quarter in this form.

As we read it, the Nvidia deployment is IonQ’s clearest tie to AI data centres, but the release gives it no dollar value.

“Both decisions underscore IonQโ€™s relentless focus on leading the industry with deployable quantum computers โ€“ built for data centers and designed to work with classical computing.”

Three Implications

FOR IONQ Guidance of $505 million to $515 million for 2026, with $3.7 billion of pro forma cash and investments.

FOR QUANTUM COMPUTING BUYERS The release lists among its third-quarter and recent highlights contracts of $33 million (SDT) and $25 million (Florida International University) for Superion 256 systems, plus a $28 million DARPA atomic-clock contract.

FOR AI DATA CENTRES Nvidia will host a Superion 256 system at its Accelerated Quantum Research Center, per IonQ.

The Business Engineer Lens

This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The Nine Layers of AI.

The framework says: “It is a layered industrial stack โ€” and at any given moment, the binding constraint sits at a different layer than it did six months ago.”

As we read it, IonQ is pitching quantum machines as a new component next to the compute layer of that stack. The framework itself does not discuss IonQ.

What Is Not Established

The release does not say how much of the $1.2 billion of remaining performance obligations sits in each segment, and it gives no revenue figure for the Nvidia deployment. The GAAP net income comes from warrant accounting, not operations. The 48% is our arithmetic.

The Bottom Line

IonQ’s revenue rose 336% to $173.8 million, but about 48% of it came from its SkyWater foundry, by our arithmetic; its own platform grew 127% to $90.3 million while it posted a $133.6 million adjusted EBITDA loss.
