Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, said on Alphabet’s earnings call on 28 October 2026 that the business now has 18 product lines “with more than $1 billion each in annual revenue.” A year earlier, in October 2025, Alphabet’s CEO remarks put the count at 13 product lines, each at an annual run rate over $1 billion.
Kurian also said that over the past 12 months, “more than 2,600 customers have used at least 100 billion tokens.” In July 2026, Google’s remarks said more than 2,000 enterprises had consumed over 100 billion tokens over the previous 12 months. By our arithmetic, that is at least 600 more, or about 30% in one quarter, though both figures are lower bounds.
Business Pill · Distribution Advantage
An evergreen Business Engineer explainer on distribution advantage. It explains the general idea only and does not discuss Google Cloud’s figures.
The key insight: By our arithmetic, Google Cloud added five product lines above $1 billion in a year, and at least 600 more customers crossed 100 billion tokens between July and October.
What Google Said on the Call
Kurian said “nearly 90% of the Fortune 100 use Gemini Enterprise,” the same share Google gave in July 2026. He said customers who used Gemini Enterprise in the third quarter of 2025 “more than quadrupled their spend with us year-over-year.”
He also said that nearly 75 customers had used at least 10 trillion tokens over the past 12 months. On knowledge work, he said: “across all of our AI services, we have sold more than 100 million seats for knowledge work.”
Alphabet’s CFO, Anat Ashkenazi, said on the same call that “Google Cloud has generated tens of billions of dollars in AI revenues year-to-date.” She did not give a precise figure.

Customer Examples Kurian Named
Kurian named three customers. He said BNP Paribas is “deploying Gemini Enterprise to more than 65,000 employees.” He said Tata Steel “deployed more than 300 specialized AI agents in just nine months.” He said Ulta Beauty’s AI shopping assistant produced “a 3x higher conversion rate than traditional browsing on their site.”
Kurian described the knock-on effect this way: “as people use Gemini, we see revenue growth from Gemini itself, but we also see that as people use Gemini, it drives growth in other parts of our portfolio.”
How the Counts Have Moved
Google’s remarks have repeated some of these measures. The count of Cloud product lines above $1 billion was 13 in October 2025 and fourteen in February 2026, then 18 on the October 2026 call. By our arithmetic, that is five more in a year.
In February 2026, Google said it had sold “more than 8 million paid seats of Gemini Enterprise” to more than 2,800 companies. The 100 million figure on this call covers all of Google’s AI services, so the two numbers have different scopes and do not form a growth rate.
How Microsoft Reports
Microsoft gives a narrower measure. In his 2026 annual report letter, published on 21 October 2026, Satya Nadella wrote that “Microsoft 365 Copilot reached over 30 million paid seats.” That counts paid seats of one product, while Google’s 100 million counts seats across all its AI services, so the two are not directly comparable.
Connecting the Coverage
Tonight’s results are in Google Cloud revenue doubled to $30.7 billion as capex hit $51.4 billion. Google’s API usage is covered in Google’s API nears 46 trillion tokens a day, and Google’s TPU customers are covered in Apple and Anthropic use Google TPUs.
The Structural Read
As we read the call, Google reported enterprise adoption in more than one unit: seats sold for knowledge work, customers by tokens consumed, and product lines by annual revenue.
As we read the scopes, the 100 million seats span all of Google’s AI services, while the 8 million figure from February counted only paid Gemini Enterprise seats, so the two do not measure one product’s growth.
By our arithmetic, the count of customers above 100 billion tokens rose by at least 600 between July and October, while the Fortune 100 share Google gave stayed at nearly 90%.

Three Implications
FOR BUYERS Kurian said customers who used Gemini Enterprise in the third quarter of 2025 more than quadrupled their spend with Google year-over-year.
FOR INVESTORS Ashkenazi said Google Cloud has generated tens of billions of dollars in AI revenues year-to-date, without giving a precise figure.
FOR COMPARISONS Microsoft reports paid seats for one product, over 30 million for Microsoft 365 Copilot in Nadella’s letter, while Google’s 100 million counts seats across all its AI services.
The Business Engineer Lens
This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework From SaaS to AGaaS.
The framework puts the shift in one line: “SaaS is charged for access to tools. AGaaS charges for the execution of outcomes.”
Google’s call reported both kinds of measure, seats sold for access and tokens consumed in use. The framework does not discuss these figures.
What Is Not Established
Google does not say what revenue the 18 product lines produce in total, or which they are. In October 2025 the threshold was stated as an annual run rate; on this call it was stated as annual revenue.
The call figures come from a live-caption transcript of the webcast, which renders the subject of the product-lines sentence as “Flowed”; we read it as Cloud, as Kurian was describing Google Cloud and Google’s earlier counts sat in its Cloud remarks. The July 2026 token figure counted enterprises, and the October 2026 figure counted customers.
The captions do not make clear whether the 2,600 and 75 counts refer only to Gemini Enterprise. “Tens of billions” is Ashkenazi’s phrase; Google gave no AI revenue figure.
The Bottom Line
Google Cloud said it now has 18 product lines above $1 billion a year, up from 13 a year earlier, and more than 2,600 customers that used at least 100 billion tokens in the past 12 months. By our arithmetic, that token count is up at least 600 since July.
