Reach Security Raises $50M+ With Microsoft’s M12, In-Q-Tel

Reach Security, a San Francisco company that uses AI to operate enterprise security defenses, said on 13 October 2026 that it has raised more than $50 million in Series B funding led by Top Tier Capital Partners. Ballistic Ventures, In-Q-Tel, M12 (Microsoft’s venture fund) and existing investors joined the round, according to the release.

Reach says it has doubled its customer base over the past 12 months. It also launched Reach Everywhere, which delivers its security control data through an API, an MCP server and partner integrations.

Business Pill · ATTACK SURFACE

A one-minute explainer of the attack surface: all the points where a system can be attacked. It teaches the general idea only and says nothing about any organisation in this story.

The key insight: As we read it, Reach is selling the record AI security tools will act on: it says its AI reads the live configuration of the defences a company already owns, and its new MCP server hands that control data to AI systems.

What Reach Announced

The release describes the product this way: Reach’s AI reads the live configuration of the security products an enterprise already owns to determine whether an exploit path is blocked or still reachable, and names the exact rule that decides it. If that protection drifts, the company says, Reach can remediate it.

Reach says the funding will support product development, more integration partnerships, international expansion and growth in the US enterprise and federal markets. It names Autodesk, Insurity, MPS and Ensemble Health Partners among its customers.

“What is old is new again in security. AI has given attackers better economics and a lower barrier to entry, but it has also given defenders a chance to use their home field advantage more than ever,” CEO and co-founder Garrett Hamilton said in the release.

Reach Security’s figures from its 13 October 2026 release: more than $50 million in Series B funding led by Top Tier Capital Partners, a customer base it says doubled in 12 months, and third-party figures the release cites from CrowdStrike and TAG Infosphere.

The Speed Problem the Release Describes

The release cites outside figures to frame the pitch. It says CrowdStrike’s 2026 Global Threat Report found AI-enabled adversary operations up 89%, with attacker breakout times as short as 27 seconds.

It also cites VulnCheck’s State of Exploitation 1H-2026 report, which it says found fewer than 1.3% of vulnerabilities are exploited in the wild. Reach’s argument is that the problem is speed: attackers use AI to exploit weaknesses faster than defenders respond.

Reach says it closes those paths by configuring defences the customer already owns, whether the attack came from an adversary or from an AI agent the customer pointed at its own environment.

Reach Everywhere and the MCP Server

Reach Everywhere sends Reach’s control data into exposure management programs, security operations centres, incident response tools, compliance platforms and AI-powered security environments, the release says.

Through the API and the MCP server, the company says, AI systems can read live, continuously validated control health data instead of outdated inventories or exports. Where a fix is safe to make, Reach says it pushes the change through ServiceNow, Jira or its own staged automation and validates it before it takes effect.

“A compensating control that cannot be verified is not a mitigation. It’s an assumption,” co-founder and CTO Colt Blackmore said in the release.

What Customers and Investors Say

The release cites an ROI analysis by TAG Infosphere, which it calls independent, saying organisations using Reach saved more than 160 hours a week across control review, posture assessment and incident investigation, and saw a 156% return.

“Reach is our source of truth,” said Sebastian Goodwin, Chief Trust Officer at Autodesk, in the release.

Garth Timoll, General Partner and CEO at Top Tier Capital Partners, said in the release: “We see this as a critical layer in the emerging AI security stack.”

The Structural Read

As we read it, the investor list carries the signal: In-Q-Tel and Microsoft’s M12 joined a round led by Top Tier Capital Partners, and Reach says it is growing in the US federal market.

As we read it, the pitch is fixing what a company already owns rather than adding another tool: Reach says it closes attack paths by configuring existing defences.

As we read it, the MCP server is the new part: the release says AI systems can read continuously validated control health data instead of outdated inventories.

Three Implications

SECURITY TEAMS Reach says it orders the backlog by which exposures are actually reachable and which existing controls already mitigate.

AI SECURITY AGENTS Reach says its API and MCP server give AI systems live control health data to act on.

INVESTORS The release names In-Q-Tel and M12 alongside Top Tier Capital Partners, but gives no valuation or revenue.

The Business Engineer Lens

This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The Agentic Harness War.

The framework puts it this way: “The limiting factors are organizational readiness, governance, workflow redesign, training, and trust.”

As we read it, Reach is pitching itself at the trust part of that list: it says it gives security teams and AI systems verified data on which controls work.

What Is Not Established

The release gives no valuation, no exact round size beyond “more than $50 million”, no revenue figure and no customer count. Its doubling claim has no base number.

The TAG Infosphere analysis is cited by Reach; we did not read it. The CrowdStrike and VulnCheck figures are quoted as the release states them, and we did not check them against the original reports.

The Bottom Line

Reach Security raised more than $50 million in a Series B led by Top Tier Capital Partners, with In-Q-Tel, Microsoft’s M12 and Ballistic Ventures joining, according to its 13 October 2026 release. It says its customer base doubled in a year, and it launched Reach Everywhere to feed validated security control data to teams and AI systems through an API and an MCP server.

A note on sourcing. On 13 October 2026 we read Reach Security’s press release of the same day in full. Funding and customer figures are the company’s own statements; the CrowdStrike, VulnCheck and TAG Infosphere figures are as the release cites them, and we did not read those reports. Nothing here is investment advice.
