Krea 3 Prices Image Edits at $0.06, Below Google and OpenAI

Krea says its Krea 3 image-editing model costs $0.06 per image at 2K and $0.03 at 1K, against list prices of $0.135 for Google’s Nano Banana Pro and $0.22 for OpenAI’s GPT Image 2, according to the company’s 15 October 2026 launch post. On 20 October 2026 Krea said on X that Krea 3 “makes it to the top of image arenas,” and TestingCatalog said Krea 3 Ultra placed 4th on the Artificial Analysis image-editing leaderboard.

By our arithmetic, Krea’s 2K price is about 56% below Nano Banana Pro’s and about 73% below GPT Image 2’s, using the list prices Krea published.

Business Pill · AI EVALUATION

A one-minute explainer on judging whether an AI model is good enough for a job. It teaches the general idea only and says nothing about any company in this story.

The key insight: As we read it, Krea is competing on price and speed rather than claiming the top quality score: its own figures put an edit at $0.06 and under 8 seconds, against $0.135 and $0.22 for the Google and OpenAI models it compares itself with.

What Krea Launched

Krea describes Krea 3 as its new image editing model. In its launch post the company says most edits come back in under 8 seconds, end to end, at native 2K.

Krea says Krea 3 is live on krea.ai for its 30 million users, and through fal, Hedra, Together AI, Nous Research, OpenRouter and Replicate.

Krea compares that with 33 seconds for Nano Banana Pro and 90 seconds for GPT Image 2. Those are Krea’s own measurements: the median time from request to finished image for edit jobs on Krea, from 24 September to 1 October 2026, queue included.

Krea also puts the monthly cost of 100,000 edits at $6,000 for Krea 3, $13,500 for Nano Banana Pro and $22,000 for GPT Image 2, at list price per image and without image references. “At that price, it makes sense to run it on every image in a catalog,” the company writes.

“Krea 3 removes the tradeoff between speed and quality, delivering high-quality edits in under 8 seconds, end-to-end, at 2K native resolution,” co-founder and CEO Víctor Perez is quoted as saying in the post.

What Was Posted on X

Krea posted on X at 15:30 UTC on 20 October that Krea 3 โ€œmakes it to the top of image arenasโ€, that its Ultra version ranks top-4, only surpassed by OpenAI models, and that it is โ€œthe only company valued under $1T in the top-10!โ€ The post does not name the leaderboard; as the piece notes, we did not find a Krea 3 entry on the Artificial Analysis image-editing page when we read it.

TestingCatalog posted at 15:42 UTC that Krea 3 Ultra placed 4th on the Artificial Analysis image-editing leaderboard with a score of 1151 and that Krea 3 Fast scored 1125 in 11th place. It also says Krea 3 is 10x faster than GPT Image 2 and 4x faster than Nano Banana Pro, with pricing from $0.03 per image at 1K and $0.06 at 2K.

The Leaderboard Claim

On 20 October 2026 Krea posted on X that “today, Krea 3 makes it to the top of image arenas,” adding that “Ultra” ranks top-4, only surpassed by OpenAI models, and calling itself “the only company valued under $1T in the top-10!”

TestingCatalog wrote the same day that Krea 3 Ultra placed 4th on the Artificial Analysis image-editing leaderboard with a score of 1151, one point behind Google’s Nano Banana 2.1, and that Krea 3 Fast scored 1125 in 11th place.

The Structural Read

As we read it, the price gap is the headline number: by our arithmetic, Krea’s 2K list price is about 56% below Nano Banana Pro’s and about 73% below GPT Image 2’s.

As we read it, the pitch is volume work: Krea says that at its price it makes sense to run the model on every image in a catalog, and it puts 100,000 edits at $6,000 a month.

As we read it, the ranking is the open question: Krea and TestingCatalog cite a top-five place, but the Artificial Analysis page we read did not show a Krea 3 entry.

Three Implications

A LIST PRICE Krea says Krea 3 costs $0.06 per image at 2K and $0.03 at 1K.

A SPEED CLAIM Krea says most edits come back in under 8 seconds, against 33 seconds and 90 seconds for the rivals it measured on its platform.

A RANKING TO CONFIRM TestingCatalog says Krea 3 Ultra placed 4th on the Artificial Analysis image-editing leaderboard; we did not find it on the page as read.

The Business Engineer Lens

This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The State of The Inference Economy.

The framework puts it this way: “Inference is a revenue engine: continuous, distributed across millions of applications and agents, incurring marginal cost with every query.”

As we read it, a per-image price is that marginal cost made visible to buyers. The framework was published in March 2026 and does not discuss Krea.

What Is Not Established

When we read the Artificial Analysis image-editing leaderboard at about 16:00 UTC on 20 October 2026, its public page listed MAI-Image-2.6 in fourth place at 1151 and Nano Banana 2.1 third at 1152, and we did not find a Krea 3 entry on it. The ranking may have been updated after we read it, or may refer to another arena; we could not confirm it.

The speed and cost comparisons are Krea’s own, measured on its own platform. The launch post we read describes Krea 3 but not separate Ultra and Fast tiers.

The Bottom Line

Krea says Krea 3 edits images for $0.06 at 2K in under 8 seconds, a fraction of the list prices it cites for Google and OpenAI. Its leaderboard claim, repeated by TestingCatalog, was not visible on the Artificial Analysis page when we checked.

95,000+ executives read Business Engineer for the AI strategy frameworks cited by ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity.

A note on sourcing. This piece is built on Krea’s 15 October 2026 launch post, read in full, Krea’s 20 October 2026 post on X and TestingCatalog’s 20 October 2026 post. Prices and speeds are Krea’s own figures. We checked the Artificial Analysis image-editing leaderboard at about 16:00 UTC on 20 October 2026 and did not find a Krea 3 entry. The percentage gaps are our arithmetic. Nothing here is financial or investment advice.
