Hubbell raised its full-year 2026 outlook on 27 October 2026, saying the increase was primarily driven by stronger anticipated growth in its Electrical Solutions segment. That segment’s third-quarter net sales rose 51% to $845 million, with organic growth of 22% that chief executive Gerben Bakker said was “led by strong datacenter markets”.
Hubbell now expects adjusted diluted earnings per share of $20.40 to $20.60 for 2026, and total sales growth of 18-19%, including organic growth of 10-11%.

Business Pill · Operating Leverage
An evergreen Business Engineer explainer on operating leverage: why profit can grow faster than sales. It teaches the general idea and says nothing about Hubbell.

The key insight: As we read it, Hubbell’s growth this quarter came from the segment it ties to data centres: Electrical Solutions organic sales rose 22%, against about 5% in Utility Solutions, and Hubbell says the full-year raise is “primarily driven by stronger anticipated Electrical Solutions growth.”
The Quarter
Third-quarter net sales rose 25%, Hubbell said, with organic growth of 11% and acquisitions adding 13%. Diluted earnings per share were $4.94, and adjusted diluted earnings per share were $5.91, up 14% year on year. The operating margin was 21.8%, and the adjusted operating margin was 25.5%, up 160 basis points.
Bakker said orders and end-market demand “remained strong, driving continued backlog build in the quarter”. Free cash flow was $280 million, against $254 million a year earlier, Hubbell said.

The Data Centre Segment
Electrical Solutions net sales rose to $845 million from $559 million a year earlier. Organic sales grew 22% and acquisitions added 29%, Hubbell said. Adjusted operating income in the segment rose to $210 million from $116 million, an adjusted margin of 24.8% against 20.8%.
Bakker said the segment’s organic growth was led by datacenter markets and “bolstered by content gains and capacity expansion investments.” He said NSI results were strong in the quarter and that performance and integration efforts were “trending ahead of our initial expectations.”
The Utility Segment
Utility Solutions net sales rose 9% to $1,028 million, with organic growth of about 5%, Hubbell said. Grid Infrastructure sales rose about 13% while Grid Automation sales fell about 4%. Bakker said the segment’s growth was led by distribution, transmission and substation markets.
Connecting the Coverage
Today we reported that Thailand drafts data centre rules after TikTok’s $24.6B, and that Anthropic pays on-site gas costs with no cap, its S-1 says. What’s new: a supplier of the electrical gear inside and around those sites reports the demand in its own numbers, and lists “continued strength in datacenter markets, notwithstanding certain opposition” among the factors that could affect its results.
The Structural Read
As we read it, part of the jump is bought, not grown: Electrical Solutions net sales rose 51%, of which acquisitions added 29% and organic growth 22%, Hubbell says.
As we read it, margins rose with the volume: the segment’s adjusted operating margin was 24.8%, against 20.8% a year earlier, Hubbell says.
As we read it, the company names the counter-pressure itself: its forward-looking statements list “continued strength in datacenter markets, notwithstanding certain opposition” among the factors that could affect results.
Gerben Bakker, Hubbell chairman, president and CEO, Q3 2026 results release, 27 October 2026
“Third quarter results were highlighted by >20% organic growth in Electrical Solutions, led by strong datacenter markets and bolstered by content gains and capacity expansion investments.”
Three Implications
FOR THE FULL YEAR Hubbell expects total sales growth of 18-19%, including organic growth of 10-11%, and adjusted diluted EPS of $20.40 to $20.60.
FOR THE GRID SIDE Utility Solutions net sales rose 9% to $1,028 million; Grid Infrastructure rose about 13% while Grid Automation fell about 4%, Hubbell says.
FOR CAPACITY Bakker says Hubbell remains “focused on proactively investing in capacity expansion to serve our customers in high growth areas.”
The Business Engineer Lens
This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The State of AI Data Centers.
The framework argues: “The structural bottleneck isn’t computing, it’s electrons.”
As we read it, Hubbell’s release is one supplier’s view of that layer: it reports data-centre-led electrical demand but does not quantify data-centre sales. The framework does not discuss Hubbell.
What Is Not Established
Hubbell does not say how much of Electrical Solutions’ sales come from data centres, or name any data-centre customer, as we read it. The release does not mention artificial intelligence as a demand driver. The 51% segment growth includes acquisitions; organic growth was 22%.
The Bottom Line
Hubbell reported 25% third-quarter sales growth on 27 October 2026 and raised its 2026 outlook, citing stronger anticipated growth in Electrical Solutions, whose organic growth it said was led by datacenter markets.
