Business Pill · Concentration

A short Business Engineer explainer on concentration: when a few big pieces make up most of a total. It teaches the general idea only and does not discuss ARK.

How It Differs From the Reports

A Crypto Times headline on 7 November said ARK “Buys Coinbase, Circle, Alphabet, NVIDIA & SpaceX, Sells Bullish & BitMine”. The compiled list for 6 November shows the Coinbase, Alphabet and Nvidia purchases and the Bullish sales. The SpaceX purchases and BitMine sales on the same page are dated 4 and 5 November, and the page we read shows no Circle trade.

Connecting the Coverage

On 5 November ARK sold $119.7 million of Broadcom and bought Nvidia and SpaceX shares (our piece). On Friday, 12 AI stocks closed with $469 billion of Thursday’s $1.45 trillion loss recovered (our piece). Hedge fund Samlyn sold nearly all its stocks except financials (our piece), while XN said it intends to be a large participant in Anthropic’s IPO (our piece). CoreWeave was part of a six-stock AI cloud basket that fell 20.9% in four sessions (our piece).

The Structural Read

As we read the list, the two sales in AI names were in a chip designer and an AI cloud operator, while the purchases were in Alphabet, Cerebras, AMD and Nvidia.

As we read the dates, the SpaceX purchases and BitMine sale grouped into some 7 November reports were dated 4 and 5 November on the same compiled page.

As we read the sizes, the day’s largest trade was a $19.25 million Natera purchase, outside AI, by our arithmetic at the official close.

The Business Engineer Lens

This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The AI Supercycle.

The analysis says: “The job of any operator, investor, or builder is to know which layer they are operating inside and which layer the binding constraint is rotating toward next.”

As we read it, ARK’s 6 November list moved money between layers: out of a chip designer and an AI cloud operator, into a model owner and chip makers. The analysis does not discuss ARK.
