Market Data — OpenRouter data shows Claude Fable 5 processing 205 billion tokens per day — nearly double Claude Opus 4.8’s 147 billion — just 24 hours after launch. And Fable 5 costs twice as much per token. Anthropic’s revenue per token just doubled.

The Revenue Math
Fable 5 is priced at $10 input / $50 output per million tokens — roughly double Opus 4.8’s pricing. At 205B tokens/day:
1.4x the volume at 2x the price = ~2.8x the revenue per model. And this is day one. If Fable 5 adoption continues climbing (it is clearly cannibalizing Opus 4.8, which dropped), Anthropic’s API revenue is about to step-change.
What This Means
1. The Product Overhang released instantly. Fable 5 went from zero to 205B tokens/day in 24 hours. The capability was restricted (Mythos only for 200 orgs). The moment it went public, demand appeared overnight. Classic overhang release.
2. Users are paying the premium willingly. Fable 5 costs 2x more than Opus 4.8. Users are choosing the expensive option. This validates that the capability gap (80.3% vs 69.2% on SWE-Bench Pro) is worth paying for.
3. The biology overcorrection isn’t slowing adoption. Despite refusing to explain mitochondria, Fable 5 usage is exploding. Developers are routing around the guardrails for the capabilities they need. The false positives are friction, not a dealbreaker.
4. The IPO case just got stronger. Anthropic filed its S-1 at ~$200B. If Fable 5 sustainably generates 2.8x the API revenue of Opus 4.8, the revenue trajectory supports — or exceeds — that valuation. The Ramp data showing 41% enterprise adoption + this usage data = a very strong IPO story.
