The Credit Side
On the lending side, the European Central Bank is considering a review of bank lending connected to data centers, according to Bloomberg News, citing people familiar with the matter, as reported by Investing.com; the ECB declined to comment. We covered it in an update to BoE Probes Tenantless Data Centre Loans; $1.75T Debt Seen. Bloomberg also ran a story headlined “AI Deal Windfalls Help Shield European Credit From Selloff”, which we read by headline only.
In Asia, as we reported in After TSMC Rout, Taiwan Cuts Short Sales 90%, Taps $15B Fund, Taiwan’s regulator cut the cap on short sales of borrowed shares to 3% from 30% of a stock’s 30-day average volume from 9 November.
The US Comparison
As we reported in AI Stocks Win Back $774B of $1.45T at the Open; AMD Up 12.6%, the 12 US AI stocks we track were about $774.0 billion above Thursday’s close at 9:45–9:46 a.m. ET, about 53.5% of Thursday’s $1,447.4 billion loss, by our arithmetic on Nasdaq intraday prices. Those are intraday figures; Europe’s are closes. The US session was still open when Europe closed.
The Business Lever
The business lever is equipment: ASML, ASM International and BE Semiconductor sell the machines and packaging tools that chipmakers buy, so their shares trade on expected chip capacity spending.

The Structural Read
As we read the closes, the split between Europe’s chip stocks and its indexes was there at the close: four of five chip stocks closed up while the STOXX Europe 600, the Euro STOXX 50 and the DAX closed lower.
As we read the morning and the close together, the moves within the group diverged: ASM International and BE Semiconductor ended above their 09:09 UTC readings, while Infineon gave back its morning gain, by our arithmetic.
As we read the comparison, Europe’s average recovery of 20.4% sits below the 53.5% we counted for 12 US AI stocks early in the US session, but one is a close and the other an intraday read.

The Business Engineer Lens
This story maps onto the Business Engineer framework The AI Capex Map & The State of AI Hyperscalers.
The analysis says: “It is a sovereign-scale financing problem dressed in tech-company clothing — and the financial architecture is starting to invert.”
As we read it, Europe’s equipment makers sit upstream of that financing, and on 6 November supervisors were weighing the lending side while the equipment shares closed higher. The analysis predates this session and does not discuss European share prices.
